GWM introduces its new electric car, the Ora Lightning Cat

KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors sub-brand has launched its all-new pure electric car in China, the Lightning Cat.

Dong Yudong, the CEO of the Ora brand said, "In the four years since the launch of ORA, we have chosen and done one thing right - changing old rules and discovering new values. Variants & Price

Ora is offering the new Lightning Cat in four variant options with prices ranging from 189,800 to 269,800 RMB (approx RM 124,333 to RM 176,739).

Dimensions

The new electric four-door sedan measures 4,871 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height. The car’s wheelbase reads 2,870 mm. It comes with a drag coefficient of 0.22Cd, thanks to its streamlined sedan-coupe shape with a liftback-like rear.

Exterior

The EV’s exterior showcases an urban look that is blessed with several modern and useful features like frameless windows, pop-out door handles, and alloy wheels with the Ora logo incorporated five times.

Interior

As expected, the Ora EV offers a comfortable and feature-loaded cabin. The kit includes - a large round steering wheel, a floating touchscreen infotainment system supported by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, a sporty center console with a control pad & three dials, and 11 Harman Infinity speakers. As for cup holders, there’s only one.

Powertrain

Ora is offering the Lightning Cat in two powertrain configurations - a single-motor front-wheel drive and a dual-motor four-wheel drive. The former generates a maximum power of 201 hp and 340 Nm of peak torque. The latter makes 402 hp and 680 Nm.

Range

The Lightning Cat offers three cruising range options - 555 km, 600 km, and 705 km.

Safety

The all-new Ora Lightning Cat comes equipped with ORA-PILOT driving assistance system including 28 sensors (10 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars, 5 mm-wave radar, and a 5G high-definition map).

Colour options

Ora is offering its new pure electric car in five striking tones including Tourmaline Grey White, Pink, Pink Diamond, Jade Ice, and Smoked Amethyst.

GWM in Malaysia

The Chinese automaker will soon launch its first EV in the local market, the Good Cat by the end of this year. No official date has been announced yet, however, once it goes on sale other models will follow.
