KUALA LUMPUR: GWM Malaysia has opened bookings for the HAVAL H6 Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), introducing a new contender in the local C-segment SUV market. The Ultra variant, a hybrid SUV, is expected to be priced under RM145,000 (excluding insurance), offering consumers a more accessible option for those seeking advanced hybrid technology in a competitively priced SUV.

Yes, at MelakaFor those who find the Ultra Hybrid a bit too pricey, GWM Malaysia will also offer a lower-spec variant, providing the same hybrid powertrain across both models. This includes a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 150 PS and 230 Nm of torque, paired with a 177 PS and 300 Nm electric motor. The electric motor is seamlessly integrated into the two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), ensuring efficient performance across both variants.
Regardless of which variant you choose, this SUV packs a punch, boasting a combined system output of 243 PS and 530 Nm of torque. In most driving conditions, the electric motor takes the lead, providing primary propulsion, while the petrol engine steps in at higher speeds to deliver additional power when needed.
The interior of the GWM Haval H6 Hybrid will of course show some differences between the lower-spec and high-spec variants. Despite these differences, both versions will share a similar level of technology, such as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. They also come equipped with dual-zone climate control, rear air vents, a powered tailgate, a Qi wireless charger, and an eight-speaker audio system.
The high-spec model adds extra luxury features including a panoramic glass sunroof and head-up display. In terms of safety, both variants will be equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a parking assist system, and an advanced driver assistance suite (ADAS) that includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB), full-speed adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, rear cross traffic alert, and lane change assist.
Customers who book the HAVAL H6 HEV before its official launch will receive several incentives. A RM1,000 booking fee unlocks RM3,000 in value, along with a 10-year or 1,000,000 km engine warranty, and an 8-year or 1,000,000 km hybrid system warranty. These offers apply only to first-hand private owners.
As China’s best-selling SUV brand for 12 consecutive years, GWM brings its globally successful H6 model to Malaysia, with 4 million units sold worldwide. The SUV also offers features like spacious rear legroom, a large boot, ventilated front seats, and the L2 ADAS system.
This model is GWM Malaysia’s first completely knocked down (CKD) vehicle, and it’s now available in showrooms across the country. It will be assembled by EPMB in Melaka.
Throughout September, GWM Malaysia will be holding roadshows at various shopping centers, including Aeon Seremban 2, Toppen Shopping Centre in Johor, Gurney Plaza in Penang, Vivacity Megamall in Sarawak, and Sunway Velocity Mall in Kuala Lumpur.
