G01 BMW X3 finally launched in Malaysia, available as CKD unit
KUALA LUMPUR: It was only three days ago when BMW Malaysia officially teased the G01 X3, through a Facebook post. Back then information about the third-generation G01 X3 was limited, but now as the car is launched, we know it inside-out.
The new X3 like the G30 5 Series will sit on the modular Cluster Architecture, thus making the SUV 60 mm longer, 10mm wider, and 54 mm longer than before. On the design front, the X3 holds a bolder stance that skillfully accompanies its ‘optimally balanced body’.
Automotive Exterior Designer, Calvin Luk is the man behind X3’s revised face. He has decorated the car's front profile with large kidney grille and X-model signature ‘third eye’ fog lamp that instantly catches onlookers attention. The side and rear end get its share of design attributes in the form of squarish wheel arches, 3D sculpted tail light, and pronounced shoulder creases.
BMW X3 is the perfect car for adventure lovers, it now gets an improved ground clearance of 204 mm and folding depth of 500 mm to confront light floods. Making it sound on the performance front, BMW has brought the overall weight down to 55 kg, compared to the second-generation X3. This is possible due to the new aluminium suspension parts and engine. The new X3 offers a drag coefficient of 0.29, making it the best BMW in aerodynamic department.
The X3 cabin is fitted with the finest upholstery and materials. The seats are wrapped in black Vernasca leather, featuring a contrasting stitching. Bring the old-world charm back is the Dark Oak wood styled instrumental panel that showcases modern features like - a 10.25 -inch infotainment screen with BMW Connected Drive, auto parking assistance, and rear camera.
Under its hood, the Malaysian specific G01 X3 house a 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbo mill that produces a maximum power of 253 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. This engine is mated to the standard xDrive AWD and automatic eight-speed gearbox. This luxury SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph is 6.3 seconds and features a top speed of 240 kmph.
