From a two-man start-up to a state-of-the-art development site, AMG complets 55 years

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, Mercedes-Benz luxury performance, AMG has completed 55 years of existence in the automobile industry. And the German automaker is celebrating the occasion with a special edition model called the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Edition 55”.

Mercedes-AMG Chairman Philipp Schiemer, on AMG’s long and successful journey, said, “From a two-man start-up in 1967 to a state-of-the-art development site including its own engine manufacturing facility for high-performance vehicles and more than 2000 qualified employees in 2022 – the success story of Mercedes‑AMG over the past 55 years is simply impressive.”

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Edition 55” benefits from the AMG Night Package for high gloss black trims on the front & rear bumper and door lining. The side profile is no less as it features Matt Tantalum Grey 22-inch forged wheels along with the complementing AMG emblem on the doors.

The cabin is no less, or shall we say, a step ahead of the exterior design. Thanks to the red and black theme, the car sure shouts power and attitude. As for the AMG attributes, there are several, like the AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in Dinamica microfibre with ‘AMG’ and ‘55’ badges and AMG seats in Nappa leather. The rest of the cabin is done in matte carbon fibre trims. Talking about detailing, even the black carpets get ‘Edition 55’ embroidery in red.

Powering the stunning Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Edition 55” is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine making a maximum power of 585 hp and a peak torque of 850 Nm. The drive is sent to all four wheels. The setup helps the “Edition 55” hit the century in 4.5 seconds.

Mercedes offers the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Edition 55” in two striking colour options - Opalite White Bright and Obsidian Black Metallic.
