Ford reveals the high-power electric Mustang Lithium prototype
KUALA LUMPUR: Ford has unveiled the powerful and fully electric, Mustang Lithium at a car show in Las Vegas. Ford has designed this model in collaboration with Webasto and fitted it with an electric powertrain that would be capable of producing an output of over 900 hp and 1,355 Nm of torque. Furthermore, the brand has revealed that the car will be loaded with Webasto’s 800-volt battery technology, along with a six-speed manual transmission, and ‘stunning’ acceleration.
The 800-volt battery power system is designed to make the overall setup lighter and more powerful. Also, it generates much lesser heat in comparison to other electric cars. It is also estimated to be more than double the power of the most electric cars running down the roads today.
The brand has incorporated Ford Performance half-shafts in Mustang Lithium driveline, along with a differential of a Super 8.8 Torsen. The model is packed with Forgeline wheels, shielded within Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
Other noteworthy features of the Mustang Lithium include the Ford Performance Track handling pack, its strut tower brace, Brembo six-piston brakes, as seen in the Shelby GT350R, Webasto hood having polycarbonate windows, and a rear diffuser and side splitters from Sankuer Composite Technologies. To strengthen the overall design, fully-electric Mustang is also be packed with a fast and convenient TurboCord portable charger and a TuboDX charging solution.
As per reports, Ford has declared that this electric Mustang prototype is not for sale; it is showcased to reveal the possibilities of electric powertrain technology. It is also reported that Ford has introduced this Mustang Lithium with the intention of testing how the heat management systems would work in an electric car. The hood of the car has two transparent panels to allow one to view the internal parts like the battery pack and the electric motor mechanism of the car.
