First shipment of Jetour Dashing arrives in Malaysia; launch imminent

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery-owned Jetour is set to launch its first model, the Dashing, in Malaysia next month. Ahead of that, the automaker announced that the first shipment of the highly anticipated SUV had arrived in Port Klang, Selangor.

“This is a significant moment for JETOUR and for Malaysian drivers,” said Mr Fu Yong, CEO of JETOUR Auto Malaysia. It marks the official entry of Dashing into the Malaysian automotive market.

“The arrival of these JETOUR Dashing vehicles demonstrates our commitment to the Malaysian market and our response to the incredible enthusiasm we've seen from customers.”

JETOUR Auto Malaysia confirmed that the SUV deliveries will begin immediately after the official launch event scheduled for Wednesday, 9 April 2025. The brand is committed to ensuring that consumers who have placed pre-orders since May 2024 receive their vehicles according to the scheduled timeline.

While the initial batch of customer units will be imported, the automaker is ready to commence local assembly operations of the SUV in late May 2025. “This strategic move underscores the company's long-term commitment to the Malaysian market and will enhance its ability to meet consumer demand.”

Ahead of its first launch, the company has established over 20 service centres across Malaysia to fulfil the after-sales requirements of the Dashing owners. It has plans to open 10 new 4S and 3S centres later this year.  

Jetour Dashing: What do we know so far?

• The Dashing is a C-segment SUV that measures 4,590 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, and spans a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. 
• The SUV boasts a striking, futuristic design with an aggressive frameless grille, sharp LED headlights, and distinctive daytime running lights.
• Jetour Malaysia is expected to offer the SUV in two variants - Prime, and Signature, both equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine generating 156 PS of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of peak torque from 1,750 rpm to 4,000 rpm. 
• Power is set to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

• Standard equipment pack may include - 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch infotainment unit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 50W wireless charging pad, 6-way power driver’s seat, ambient lighting, Sony surround sound system, Smart Rubik's Cube key, automatic air-conditioning with CN95 filter and air purification system, leather seat upholstery, panoramic sunroof, and a powered tailgate.
• While no information is yet available on the price point, we can refer to the Indonesian market for an idea, where the SUV costs between IDR 408.8 million (RM 109k) and IDR 440.8 million (RM 117k).

The upcoming Jetour Dashing is a promising SUV that is ready to give tough competition to its rivals, including the Proton X70, Honda CR-V, and Toyota Corolla Cross.
