Denza D9 previewed in Malaysia; here’s all you need to know

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian electric vehicle market is growing at a faster pace thanks to Chinese car brands consistently launching their latest models. Denza is yet another Chinese marque that made its Malaysian debut earlier this morning.

Under the Denza banner, BYD offers luxury BEVs and PHEVs in several markets, including China, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia.
Well, Denza has now arrived in Malaysia with its first global right-hand drive model, the Denza D9. It is an all-electric vehicle that falls in the premium MPV category, where it directly rivals the likes of other Chinese EVs - the Zeekr 009 and Maxus Mifa 9.

Dimensions
Based on BYD Group's e-platform 3.0, the Denza D9 measures 5,250 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,920 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. The boot space is estimated at 410 litres, which is expandable up to 2,310 litres.
Exterior
This latest Chinese MPV boasts a distinctive design with π(Pi)-Motion aesthetic combining the mathematical precision of π with the fluidity of motion. On the front, we can see a Pi-shaped front grille with sleek lines extending sideways, lending the vehicle a modern elegance. The meteor-inspired headlights feature brilliant flowing light bands for enhanced brightness.
The side profile appears seamless with streamlined body lines and stylish 18-inch alloy wheels while the rear end flaunts sharpness with star-feather tail lights.

The Denza D9 has a spacious seven-seater cabin that promises a luxurious driving experience to all occupants. The key highlights are -

Both variants are mated to a 103.36 kWh Blade LFP battery pack, which offers a WLTP-claimed driving range of 520 km on the FWD trim and 480 km on the AWD trim. The EV supports 11 kW of AC charging and 166 kW of DC fast-charging power. The latter can juice up the battery from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes only, making the EV a practical option for long-distance travel.
Suspension
Designed for a smooth and controlled riding experience, the Denza MPV comes equipped with adaptive dampers. The front-wheel drive model features a frequency-selective variable damping suspension, which manages the damper as per the road condition and offers enhanced ride comfort.
The all-wheel drive trim, on the other hand, has a more advanced DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System that continuously adjusts settings for better handling and stability.
Safety
In terms of safety, the upcoming Denza EV is packed with eight airbags and several advanced driver-assistance systems, including Adaptive cruise control, Autonomous emergency braking, Lane centring assist, Blind-spot monitoring, Front and rear cross-traffic alert, Rear collision warning, Door opening warning and Driver attention monitor.
