Denza D9 EV hits Malaysian roads – First 200 units delivered

KUALA LUMPUR: BYD’s premium sub-brand, Denza, officially entered the Malaysian market last month with the introduction of its flagship model, the Denza D9. Within a week of launch, this premium electric minivan received over 800 bookings, and 200 early adopters took their electric rides home last weekend.

    Denza Malaysia delivered the first 200 units of the minivan at the "Denza and BYD Electrifying Experience" event held at Plaza Arkadia, Desa Parkcity.

    Denza D9: Key highlights

    • Based on BYD Group's e-platform 3.0, the Denza D9 measures 5,250 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,920 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. 
    • The boot space is estimated at 410 litres, which is expandable up to 2,310 litres.
    • The D9 is a well-proportioned MPV that looks classy and premium with traditional luxury cues.
    • It boasts a commanding road stance with π(Pi)-Motion aesthetics, including a Pi-shaped front grille, meteor-inspired headlights, and star-feather taillights.

    • The Denza D9 is offered in FWD and AWD trims; the former generates a maximum power of 313 PS and a peak torque of 360 Nm, while the latter is tuned to deliver 374 PS and 470 Nm.
    • Both variants are mated to the same 103.6 kWh LFP battery pack, providing a range of 520 km for the FWD and 480 km for the AWD trim.
    • The EV supports 11 kW of AC charging and 166 kW of DC fast-charging power; the latter can charge 30% to 80% battery in 30 mins only.
    • As for suspension, the front-wheel drive EV features a frequency-selective variable damping suspension, while the AWD version has a more advanced DiSus-C Intelligent Damping Body Control System.
    • The exterior equipment kit includes - ​​LED headlights and taillights, a power sliding door and tailgate, a Panoramic sunroof, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

    • The cabin is kitted with a 15.6-inch infotainment unit, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, 10.25-inch digital driver display, 12-inch head-up display, 5.5-inch screens for second-row passengers, three-zone automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charging pads, premium leather upholstery, and power-adjustable front seats with ventilated and massage function, and Danner 14-speaker HiFi sound system. 
    • As for safety, it is packed with eight airbags and several advanced driver-assistance systems.

    On the purchase of the Denza D9, Sime Motors offers a 6-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, an 8-year or 160,000 km drive motor and motor controller warranty, and an 8-year or 160,000 km mileage battery warranty (SOH within >70 or above). Further sweetening the deal is a cross-border after-sales warranty service in Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
