Citroen C4 Picasso: Features explained
The Citroen C4 Picasso is the smaller version of the C4 Grand Picasso which is a 7-seater MPV. But it is certainly much more than just a compact version of a 7-seater MPV. The C4 Picasso is Citroen’s flagship car in Malaysia and is available in just one variant called the L2 Seduction. The Citroen C4 Picasso price of RM 118,104 makes sure that this compact MPV packs some unique features. Here is a look at some of the most remarkable features it has on offer.
Outstanding design
It is easy to say that the C4 Picasso looks like nothing else in the market today. The design has remained more or less the same since its launch in 2017, however, it still looks fresh. The front end features a slim double slat grille that cleverly incorporates the Citroen logo in the centre. The grille also features slim LED daytime running lights with larger headlamps underneath them. This makes the DRLs look like eyebrows. Further, on the bumper are the fog lights flanking the larger gaping grill.
The shape of the car when looked from the sides gives the impression of a hatchback instead of an MPV and forms a unique silhouette. Even the rear gets LED taillights that have a unique 3D effect. The C shaped chrome piece on the sides and the subtly sculpted panels add sophistication while the large glass enclosure gives it a sense of space. The design, however, might not appeal to everyone.
Space galore
Being a compact MPV, the C4 Picasso packs in a surprising amount of space. The front features a gigantic sloping windshield with a segmented A-pillar which gives a panoramic view of the outside. And if all that glass is not enough, you can even get a massive sunroof. The seats are nicely bolstered and very comfortable. The second row is also very roomy with a good knee, elbow and headroom. The seats can be folded completely flat to have a long, flat and low loading floor. Even with the seats up, the cargo space is better than its rivals at 630-litre. With the middle row also folded the space inside goes all the way up to 1709-litre. And as you will find, there is more to this interior than just space.
Futuristic features
The most prominent of these is the gorgeous two-tone dashboard. There is a surprising lack of buttons on the dash thanks to all the controls being placed on the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The instrument display is also digital and is centrally mounted instead of directly behind the steering wheel. This makes it visible even to the second-row passengers who are sure to enjoy the futuristic animations. This minimalistic approach to controls enhances the sense of space inside the car.
The infotainment setup boasts all kinds of smartphone connectivity and also includes navigation. There also are work tables for the second row with reading lights. The central console can be lifted out to reveal the cup holders. All three seats in the second row come with ISOFIX mounts and also get the benefit of the automatic dual zone Air conditioning.
Comfortable Cruising
The C4 Picasso specs say that it is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 165 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque. The engine sends power to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission which also comes with paddle shifters. Being an MPV, it is not really meant for setting blistering lap times and is rather for covering large distances in the most comfortable manner.
The C4 also comes equipped with programmable cruise control and speed limiter for better highway manners. Safety is also at an all-time high with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control, electronic stability program and tire pressure monitoring system along with a reverse camera and parking sensors.
French cars are uniquely quirky and the Citroen C4 Picasso is no exception. It might be a little expensive and a little too funky for some people but people who are willing to take it on a test drive are sure to find a new favourite.
