China gets a new 2-door mini EV, the Chery Unbounded Pro

KUALA LUMPUR: While we are still waiting for Chery’s new SUVs (Omoda 5 and Tiggo Pro) to launch in Malaysia, the Chinese automaker has treated the home ground with a new 2-door mini EV, called the Unbounded Pro (formerly known as the QQ Wujie Pro). The new Chery EV will rival the likes of the Wuling Air and Changan Lumin Corn electric cars in the People’s Republic.

Let’s check out the key highlights of the all-new Chery Unbounded Pro -

• The EV measures 3402 mm in length, 1680 mm in width, and 1590 mm in height and spans a 2160-mm long wheelbase
• It comes in two drivetrain options; the first comprises a 73 hp/150 Nm electric motor paired with a 28.86-kWh battery pack offering a range of 301 km. The top speed is rated at 120 kmph
• Another mill includes a 90 hp/120 Nm electric motor and a bigger 40.296-kWh battery, which lets the EV cruise up to 408 km on a single charge. Here, the maximum speed is limited to 125 kmph
• As for charging, the EV takes just 30 minutes for 30% to 80% SoC when using the fast charging options

• In terms of design, the new Chinese EV looks cute with a closed front fascia featuring a mesh pattern. It is teamed up with sharp LED headlamps, orange accents on the bumpers and side skirts, 16-inch wheels, and hidden door handles
• Inside the cabin lies a 7.0-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a Panoramic sunroof, “540-degree” camera system, multiple drive modes, easy-entry electric adjustable seats, leather upholstery, and remote-operated cabin cooling and heating system

• The safety kit comprises airbags, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, merging assist, and door-opening warning
• Chery offers the EV in seven exterior shade options

The Chery Unbounded Pro price in China starts at CNY 89,900 (approximately equal to RM 55,919) and goes all the way up to CNY 112,900 (RM 70,226).
