Chery Omoda E5 EV launched in Malaysia - RM147k, up to 430km range, 204PS/340Nm

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian EV scene is abuzz with excitement as we see yet again another arrival of an electric vehicle, this time the arrival of the Chery Omoda E5 SUV EV.

With Malaysia witnessing a surge in electric vehicle adoption, the launch of the Chery Omoda E5 not only marks another milestone in the nation's journey towards sustainable mobility, but also a milestone for Chery Malaysia and their mission to provide the masses with affordable vehicles, let it be regular or fully electric.

The Chery Omoda E5 EV is officially introduced in sole form, with a price tag of RM146,800. 

The first 2000 people to book the Chery Omoda E5 will enjoy complimentary, Wall box charger, V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) charger as well as charging credits worth RM1000 at EVC chargers. Additionally, all E5s will be able to charge for free across the country, at Chery's close to 40 dealer network.

Underneath its sleek exterior lies a potent front-mounted electric motor, churning out a formidable 201 PS of power and a hefty 340 Nm of torque. Zooming from 0 to 100 km/h in a swift 7.6 seconds and topping out at an impressive 172 km/h, the Chery Omoda E5 promises an exhilarating driving experience.

Fueling this performance is a Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack with a robust 61 kWh capacity, delivering an estimated range of 430 km on a single charge based on WLTP standards.

Charging and Technology:

The Chery Omoda E5 isn't just about performance; it's about convenience too. Supporting AC charging at 9.9 kW and DC fast charging up to 80 kW, this EV ensures minimal downtime during charging sessions as it can re-juice itself from 30% to 80% in just 28 minutes.

Moreover, its innovative vehicle-to-load (V2L) system transforms the vehicle into a mobile power bank, capable of supplying up to 3.3 kW of power to external devices and appliances.

Warranty

The Chery OMODA E5 package includes an outstanding 7-year or 150,000km vehicle warranty, and an 8-year or 160,000km battery warranty and an equally robust 8- year or 160,000km drive unit warranty which covers the Power Motor, Power Motor
Control Unit, Power Battery Management System and the Vehicle’s Control Unit which is class-leading in its segment.

Additionally, Chery Malaysia is also offering a one-to-one exchange if the battery’s state of health falls below 70% during the warranty period.
