Chery Malaysia rewards Olympic heroes with new TIGGO 7 PRO at special ceremony
KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia has honored its commitment to reward Malaysia's Olympic bronze medalists from the recent Paris Olympics by recognizing their outstanding achievements and gifting them brand new Chery vehicles. At a special ceremony, the automaker presented each medalist with a Chery TIGGO 7 PRO, celebrating their success on the global stage.

It was decided that athletes who won bronze would have gotten the Tiggo 7 ProThe recipients of the luxury SUVs were badminton stars Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, who competed in the Men's Doubles event, and Lee Zii Jia, who earned his medal in the Men's Singles. The event was also graced by the presence of Youth and Sports Minister YB Hannah Yeoh, who expressed her appreciation for Chery’s support of Malaysian athletes.“We believe that sports is a unifying tool for Malaysia. We encourage the private sector to play their role in rewarding athletes when they succeed in bringing back medals. What makes Chery’s gesture special is that they are celebrating all medal winners,” said Yeoh.
The Chery TIGGO 7 PRO, valued at RM123,800, is a five-seater SUV powered by a 1.6L Turbocharged Petrol Direct Injection engine, delivering 194HP and 290Nm of torque. Paired with a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), the vehicle offers a fuel-efficient performance of 7.0L/100km. The SUV is equipped with advanced features including the latest Advanced Driver Assistance System 2.5 (ADAS 2.5), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium Sony audio system.
Chery Malaysia's gesture not only highlights the brand’s entry into the Malaysian market but also reflects its broader commitment to supporting local sports talent. As Chery continues to establish its presence in the country, the automaker aims to contribute to Malaysia's success on the global stage by backing athletes and fostering community engagement.
Chery Malaysia also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Belia Mahir Project to create career opportunities for Malaysian youth, particularly those categorized as NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training). Through this partnership, Chery aims to provide a pathway from education to employment, offering selected graduates from the Belia Mahir Project roles within Chery Malaysia’s offices and assembly plants. The initiative includes competitive benefits, such as a minimum monthly income of RM2,000 and comprehensive staff perks, aiming to empower local talent and support Malaysia’s industrial growth.
The collaboration also aligns with the broader goals of Malaysia’s industrial and energy transition, as emphasized by Chery Corporate Malaysia’s Executive Vice President, Mr. Leo Chen. By investing in local talent, Chery seeks to build a skilled workforce to sustain its operations, particularly with the recent launch of its assembly plant in Shah Alam. The MoU was recognized during a TVET program launch, attended by prominent figures including Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and other key stakeholders.
