The owner shared distressing images online showing the rear axle disconnected and the car stranded on the road, with the rear wheel pushed up against the body of the vehicle.
Chery Malaysia's response basically says that they take this matter seriously and is now investigating the matter and they are also urging Omoda 5 customers to contact them if they have any worries.
"We wish to provide an update on the recent matter regarding the axle of an OMODA 5 vehicle. Chery Auto Malaysia has contacted and is in communication with the customer. The vehicle has been brought to our service centre for a thorough inspection and investigation.
As a proactive measure and in line with our safety protocols, Chery Auto Malaysia is currently reaching out to the affected customers. For additional peace of mind, all customers who are concerned can book an appointment at their nearest service centre for a thorough inspection, all inspected vehicles will receive a full report."
The owner updated her followers on social media yesterday, stating that the vehicle was towed to the Balakong service center for a comprehensive investigation by Chery. A sales representative at the service center assured her that this was the second reported instance of such an issue, the first of which was resolved swiftly and efficiently. The representative encouraged her not to worry, stating that the issue would be handled promptly. Although a courtesy car was offered, the owner chose to decline it.
This incident marks the second time a customer-reported issue with the Omoda 5 has circulated widely on social media, with the previous instance involving a reported brake problem.
