Chery Indonesia opens ordering books for Tiggo 7 Pro & Tiggo 8 Pro; Malaysia next?

KUALA LUMPUR: Earlier this year the Chinese automaker Chery announced its comeback in the Indonesian market. The company first made an appearance in the republic at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) Hybrid 2022 event followed by the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show that concluded just a few days back.

At both the occasions/auto shows Chery showcased a number of models including the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro. And now we hear that the automaker has opened up the ordering books for the duo.

As for Malaysia, Chery’s return will be marked by models like the Omado 5 which has been caught testing several times in the country along with the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro.

The automaker is even working towards establishing a local assembly line in the country. In a recent statement, the company said, “Chery is continuing to work closely with local partners towards establishing assembly operations in Malaysia, as well as towards its brand renewal, which will see the development of a new nationwide sales and after-sales network to best serve Malaysians.”

Let us now quickly brush up our knowledge on the two upcoming Chery models, the Tiggo 7 Pro & Tiggo 8 Pro.

Chery Tiggo 7 Pro

This one is a 5-seater SUV that is tagged as ‘urban elite’ by the automaker. Powering it is a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine generating maximum power of 150 PS along with a peak torque of 230 Nm. The drive is sent to the wheels via a CVT unit with nine virtual ratios.

Some of its key features are - a 7-inch LCD instrument panel, an 8-inch climate control screen, 10.25-inch central touchscreen, electric tailgate, 360-degree camera, wireless charging, dual-zone auto air-con system, electric tailgate, six airbags, and a full suite of ADAS.

Chery Tiggo 8 Pro

This one is Cheryl's flagship model and powering it is a bigger 1.6-litre GDI mill making a maximum power of 197 PS and 290 Nm of peak torque. The power is sent to the wheels via an in-house developed dual-clutch gearbox.

The 7-seater SUV packs several comforts, convenience, and connectivity features. Part of its specs sheet is - an 8-speaker Sony sound system, panoramic skylight, multi-colour ambient lighting, two-tone black-brown upholstery, a 12.3-inch instrument panel, a central touchscreen, and an 8-inch climate control system. The safety part is taken care of by a 360-degree camera and a full suite of ADAS.
