Check out uncamouflaged images of 2021 Fortuner

KUALA LUMPUR: The Toyota Fortuner facelift is one of the most anticipated models of our times. Earlier this year, we got a glimpse of it via spy shots that took the auto industry and enthusiasts by storm. Back then, the front and rear profiles of the upcoming SUV were fully covered, leaving us to our imagination.

Now, the new Fortuner has been spotted once again, and this time it’s completely unmasked! The images of Toyota’s popular pickup passenger vehicle might be a bit blur, but it is the clearest view of the updated Fortuner until now. The car was spotted in Thailand, and the exterior seems to have gotten significant tweaks than we expected.

Talking about the changes in the 2021 Toyota Fortuner -

• The front appears to be completed revised with new headlights, redesigned grille and revamped fog lamps housing
• The hood is also new with much-defined creases on the surface
• The chrome bits that connected the grille and the center air intake are now missing
• The front apron is also re-profiled
• The changes at the rear are a bit obvious, especially the bumper corners that are now more angular and defined
• We also see faux rear air outlets
• The taillight part is not visible clearly in the images; however, we expect it to get a mild tweak as well
• The wheels appear new compared to the ongoing model

As for the rest of the car, the flanks appear mostly unchanged from the 2016 model. No interior images have surfaced yet; however, we expect to see a few revisions here and there along with a longer list of standard equipment.

No under the hood changes are expected at the moment, and the new model is likely to get the same setup, i.e., the 2.4-liter and 2.8-liter turbodiesel engines. We are not sure whether Toyota will continue to offer the 2.7-liter gas engine.

Seeing the current scenario, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner might make a debut in the third quarter or even at the end of this year. As for the Malaysian market, we expect it to arrive in the market by the first half of 2021.
