Check out the rendering images of the 2020 Land Rover Defender pick-up truck

KUALA LUMPUR: Land Rover has recently started the deliveries of 2020 Defender in the United States after a long wait; however, it will be in short supply through the summer because of production halt caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The 2020 iteration of the popular off-roader is not available in pick-up form. Still, here we have brought a glimpse of new Defender pick-up with a tiny cargo platform. Well, these are just the rendering images created by a talented artist named spdesignsest on Instagram, who tried to show us what a 2020 Defender would look like with a cargo bed.

The artist took the five-door 110 model as the basis and cropped the rear portion of its roof to bring out the virtual creation. In the images, one can notice that a large extent of exterior appearance is unchanged. The artist only worked on the back profile of the SUV. 

Defender pick-up rendering features large rear glass and a swing-out door at the back for accessing the cargo area. However, such a form does not seem useful as its loading capacity is only a few metres, plus it also reduces the seating space.

Coming to the official 2020 Land Rover Defender, which signifies the return of the most capable off-roader of the brand. It comes in two body styles - Defender 90 and Defender 110. The 90 trim features two-doors and a short-wheelbase while the 110 version is a four-door vehicle with a long wheelbase. In terms of oil bits, it comes with two engine choices; a 2.0-litre turbo-4 engine, producing 300 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque, and a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-6 mild-hybrid mill with 400 PS and 550 Nm.

For Defender pick-up, Land Rover says that it is technically possible on the D7x platform, but the company does not find a business sense in entering this segment. Instead, the automaker is planning to roll out a larger 130 version offering more seating capacity.

The all-new Land Rover Defender is expected to launch soon in Malaysia.
