Check out 2020 Alphard and Vellfire ‘Gold’ editions

KUALA LUMPUR: With the arrival of the Lexus LM, it might look that the Toyota Alphard has taken a backseat, but things are about to get changed. As the Japanese automaker has introduced a new shiny upgrade of its luxury minivan.

This time around, Toyota opted for a gold treatment that resulted in 2020 Alphard S ‘Type Gold’ and special Vellfire Z ‘Golden Eyes’ edition.

The 2020 Toyota Alphard S ‘Type Gold’ displays a massive grille done in gloss black finish, and neat chrome touches for a more sophisticated finish. The signature Alphard badge is done in gold, reflecting its new-found gold upgrade. Toyota Vellfire ‘Golden Eyes’, on the other hand, staying true to its name, get golden projectors. Also, the front grille gets a black-plated finish with extra garnish for a neater appearance.

 

Both the Toyota ‘gold’ treated minivans benefit from new 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and fog light bezels additional smoked plating on the LED headlights accents. Other available additional features on the Alphard and Vellfire are -

• LED cornering lamps
• Backdoor garnish with a smoked finish
• Side mudguards
• LED sequential turn signals

The gold-treated Alphard and Vellfire will be offered as a 7-seater model and feature exclusive leather and Ultrasuede upholstery with gold contrast stitching. They also get an all-black headliner that is complemented by LED ambient lighting. Other interior inclusions include-

• New leather-wrapped steering wheel with faux wood finish
• New Console box with wood decor and a high-grade metal
• A gold-plated smart key

Like the standard Alphard and Vellfire, the special edition models also benefit from the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) kit. With features like an automatic high beam, pre-collision system, dynamic radar cruise control, and lane departure, the TSS will keep the driver and occupants safe.

Both models are powered by a 2.5-liter 4-cyl unit paired to a CVT. A hybrid option is also available wherein the engine gets support from the electric assist and a new eCVT.

Also, with Japan’s annual ‘Golden Week’ just around the corner (from 29 April to 6 May), this could be Toyota’s way of celebrating the holidays.

The 2020 Alphard S ‘Type Gold’ and Vellfire Z ‘Golden Eyes” are on sale in Japan. The 2WD models cost JPY 4,240,000, while the 4WD version retail for JPY 4,495,000. The hybrid versions cost JPY 5,040,000.
