BYD Dolphin EV launched in Singapore; When will it come to Malaysia?
KUALA LUMPUR: After Thailand and Australia, BYD’s most affordable electric vehicle, the Dolphin, has now made its way to Singapore. The official distributor of BYD vehicles in the country, Vantage Automotive, offers the Dolphin EV in a single trim, priced at SGD 156,888 (RM 539,571), including the special launch discount of SGD 3,000 (RM 10,315).

Previewed last year, the BYD Dolphin EV is expected to hit the Malaysian roads in Q4 2023.The Singapore-spec Dolphin is powered by a single electric motor that is capable of generating a maximum power of 94 hp and a peak torque of 180 Nm. It enables the EV to run from zero to 100 kmph in 12.3 seconds.
Feeding the electric motor is a 44.9kWh battery pack, which delivers a WLTP-claimed driving range of 340 km on a full charge. The latter takes 42 minutes for 0 to 80 SoC when using a 60kW DC charger.
Just like the BYD Atto 3, the Dolphin is also based on the brand’s bespoke 'e-Platform 3.0' underpinnings. It measures 4,290 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height. The wheelbase is measured at 2,700 mm.
In terms of design, the EV embraces Ocean Aesthetics philosophy with sharp creases and specific head and tail lights signatures reminiscent of the marine animal. Three available colour choices include - Maldive Purple, Coral Pink, and Urban Grey.
The interior is decked up with a dual-tone colour scheme and comes kitted with several advanced bits, including -
