Bugatti Chiron Sport now in Malaysia, priced at RM 12.5 million
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2018 Geneva Motor Show, saw the most awaited global launch of the Bugatti Chiron Sport. Prior to that, it was seen at the Fullerton Concours d’Elegance in Singapore. We Malaysians have been waiting ever since to see the glimpse of this car. But now, the wait is over. The Chiron Sport is finally here in Malaysia. It is our country who has received the honour after Singapore, in the ASEAN region.
The new Bugatti Chiron Sport comes with a special Dynamic Torque Vectoring feature that individually distributes the torque to each wheel. Also, the car now weighs 18 kgs lesser than the conventional Bugatti Chiron, thanks to the use of carbon-fibre in different components like intercooler cover, stabiliser, and windscreen wipers. The Chiron Sport saves more weight with a lighter glass in the rear window and a new exhaust deflector.
If you compare the Sport to the regular Chiron, it has improved dynamics thanks to the suspension setup which is 10% stiffer over the standard one, as well as an optimised rear-axle differential. With a more angular design than the standard Bugatti Chiron, for the lightweight wheels, and the rear accentuated by a four-pipe exhaust, the Sport does look, a bit different.
But the one thing that has not changed in the new Chiron Sport is the powerful 8-litre quad-turbo W16 engine. This mighty beast puts out a power of 1,500 PS and a peak torque of 1,600 Nm. The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission helps power all the four wheels smoothly.
Bugatti says that the Sport is five seconds quicker than the standard Chiron, at the Handling Track in Nardò Technical Center, and can easily complete the 0-100 kmph speed in just under 2.5 seconds. They also say it is capable of “reaching its full handling potential even at cornering speeds in excess of 200 kmph.”
If you are planning to buy the Chiron Sport, you will have to reach out to the Wearnes Automotive company and deposit the contract amount of 200,000 euros (around RM 945,800). They represent the Bugatti in the Southeast Asia region. The company based in Molsheim and also represents the exclusive Aston Martin and Bentley cars as well.
The base price of the Chiron Sport is 2.65 million euros (around RM 12.5 million). It has to be paid to Bugatti and that too in euros only. That’s a hell lot of money to spend on a car. But if you are blessed with enormous wealth like the current owners of Chiron, you won't even think twice before buying this amazing new supercar.
