Bookings started for facelifted Perodua Axia, comes with two new trims

KUALA LUMPUR: The Perodua Axia has received another facelift for the 2019 model year and is now available for booking. This is followed by its brochure, which was leaked a couple of days ago. In this huge makeover, there is plenty to discuss from its revised pricing to new-segment first equipment, new variants, and an SUV-inspired offshoot.

Perodua Axia Open For Booking

Along with the four trim levels of outgoing Axia range, including E, G, SE, and Advance, the carmaker has added two new variants - GXtra (new) and Style (new) for the 2019 facelift. Also, G and SE had manual as well as auto options, while the SE’s manual option has been deleted from the upcoming range. That means other than the manual version of E, all the other variants will come with four-speed automatic gearbox.

Around the lower body, the car comes with SUV-style black plastic cladding while the silver-coloured sections can be seen at the lower front and rear bumpers. Inside the cabin, the styling remains unchanged as it has the same unique “denim” fabric on the seats that contains “fish scale” pattern along with contrast stitching.

Axia Specifications

The base version E is equipped with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine, which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 67 hp and peak torque is 91 Nm. There will be either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic gearbox that sends the power to the wheels. The MT is capable of returning a mileage of 22.5 kmpl, while the AT provides around 21.6 kmpl.

All the versions of 2019 Axia, excluding ‘E’, will get the ABS with EBD, and VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) is also provided to the new model. P2’s anti-theft bag hook and active safety system are also offered. However, the special surprise is the inclusion of the Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) 2.0 to the range-topping Axia Advance.

As for the estimated on-the-road pricing, the 2019 Perodua Axia starts from RM 24,090 with the base version ‘E’, while the top-end player AV costs RM 43,190.
