BMW X3 sDrive20i now available in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Since its first introduction in 2011, the BMW X3 is one of the brand’s highest-selling models in the Malaysian market. In the previous year, the automaker managed to sell more than 900 units of the SUV, despite the unprecedented times. Well, the model’s success has led the company to add one more sporty variant to the SUV’s lineup and that’s an entry-level BMW X3 sDrive20i.
“We are also proud to introduce the New BMW X3 sDrive20i today alongside the First-Ever BMW 330Li M Sport, both impressively engineered to set the benchmark for powerful dynamism in their segments,” said Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.
In terms of design, the rear-wheel driven X3 variant features the hallmark radiator kidney grille and the xLine package that adorns it with matte aluminium trims on the front air inflows, bumpers, and side skirts. Other exterior highlights are LED headlights with cornering lights. 19-inch light Y-Spoke alloy wheels with runflat tyres, and BMW Individual Exterior Line Aluminium satinated package with roof rails. The colour options list includes Alpine White, Glacier Silver, Black Sapphire, and Pythonic Blue.
Powering the new X3 trim is a B48 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot gasoline mill that churns out a maximum output of 184 PS from 5,000 to 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 300 Nm from 1,350 to 4,000 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. When it comes to performance, the new X3 sDrive20i is capable of clocking the 100 kmph mark in 8.2 seconds and can touch the top speed of 215 kmph.
Inside the cabin, the luxury SUV is loaded with all modern features, including BMW Live Cockpit Plus instrument panel with a 5.7-inch multi-info display, an 8.8-inch iDrive touchscreen display, three-zone automatic air conditioning system, 12-speaker HiFi sound system, and Black Vernasca leather upholstery, black stitching. Included in the ADAS are Parking Assistant and Driving Assistant suite.
Sitting at the bottom of the X3 model lineup, the all-new locally-assembled X3 sDrive20i is priced at RM 270,934 (on-road without insurance, and inclusive of the SST rebate). Included in the price is the standard two-year warranty, however, an extended warranty of five-year/unlimited mileage and a service package of five-year/100,000 km package are also on offer, at a concluded price of RM 286,674.
