BMW Malaysia released teaser of its upcoming plug-in hybrid
Kuala Lumpur: Good news for the clean energy enthusiasts and BMW fans, as the German automaker has released a teaser image of its next gen plug-in-hybrid technology vehicle on its Facebook page. The car is soon expected to hit Malaysian shores. Although the company kept the name of the particular model in dubiety but it looks like BMW X5 xDrive40e is on the way. All we understood from the teaser is the accompanying caption of “Mobility gets an electrifying makeover”.
Well, you must be wondering how do we speculated that it's BMW X5 plug-in hybrid model? Although BMW didn't specified the model but they provided a clue in the teaser. Actually if one took a closer at the bottom most image in the teaser mosaic, then the exterior silhouette of the graphical image represents BMW X5, and the company is all primed with the hybrid model of X5. Thus, we made a guess that it is BMW X5 xDrive40e.
BMW xDrive40e plug-in hybrid is powered by a turbocharged 2.0 litre B48 four-cylinder petrol engine which is uniquely synched with an electric motor. The car produces a total power output 313 hp with 450 Nm of torque. This torque produced by the coupled engine is equally distributed over the four wheel with the help of an eight-speed Steptronic transmission and marque’s xDrive permanent all-wheel drive system.
The Hybrid SUV takes only 6.8 seconds to escalate to 100 Km/h from a standstill and the digital speedometer continue to deflect until it hits an electronically-limited top speed of 210 km/h. The car boasts a considerable electric operational range of 31 km along with a top speed of 120 km/h in EV mode. For now we can wait for the official announcement of the vehicle.
