BMW M8 Gran Coupe: In Pics

It was only a year back that BMW Malaysia officially launched the M8 Gran Coupe in the country along with its sibling M8 Coupe. Both these cars were introduced along with the X3 M and X4 M in Competition spec. Thus making it a four BMW M model debut.

Today, out of the four M models we'll be discussing the M8 Gran Coupe in detail with the help of several images. So, let's get started with the car's exterior design details.

Exterior

The M8 Gran Coupe showcases a progressive design language and impresses all with its radically dynamic yet elegant contours. This four-door sports car uses the finest material and craftsmanship.

The exterior features several M cues including - M-specific twin-spar door mirrors, M rear spoiler, flared aluminium wings with M grille, M-specific exhaust system with tailpipes and chrome trims and M-specific M8 rear diffuser.

It gets a carbon-fibre reinforced plastic roof and BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim.

Interior

The M8 Gran Coupe interior like its exterior effortlessly communicates luxurious character from every perspective. It has a pure sporting flair and tops on luxury elements.

The standard kit includes - full Merino leather upholstery, M Sport seats with an integrated & illuminated M8 logo, and full-leather door trim panels & dashboard. Not to forget the red starter button and a new electronic gear lever embossed and featuring M colour stitching.

The four-door sports car features an impressive range of equipment options, all engineered to elevate the driving pleasure to the next level. Apart from offering unbridled power, technological excellence, it also packs in a luxurious ambience, first-class digital service, and an innovative driver assistance system.

Engine

Powering the M8 Gran Coupe is a 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine that generates a maximum power of 600 hp at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 750 Nm between 1,800 and 5,600 rpm. The power is sent to an M xDrive all-wheel-drive system via an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox with Drivelogic settings.

This configuration allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.2 seconds and 0 to 200 kmph in 11 seconds.

M xDrive

Maximum traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving and racetrack is guaranteed via BMW M xDrive with Active M differential. It splits torque distribution between the front and rear wheels depending on the chosen settings and conditions.

M Mode

The driver can adjust the control intensity of the driver assistance systems via the M MODE button on the centre console. The ROAD mode offers a full range of functions of the electronic assistants. Through the SPORT setting, it only warns but does not intervene. TRACK mode completely deactivate the assistance system

Configurable M brake

The braking system offers a precise pedal feel and M specific configration. The system brings together braking control functions, brake activation, and brake booster within a compact module. The driver gets to benefit from two-pedal feel settings - SPORT and COMFORT modes.

M Sport exhaust system

This exhaust system delivers a dynamic sound that can be modified through the integrated exhaust valve mechanism. The SPORT and SPORT+ programmes can be selected via the Driving dynamics buttons.

BMW Live Cockpit Professional system

The M8 Gran Coupe benefits from BMW Live Cockpit Professional system that includes an all-digital 12.3-inch instrument panel, a full-colour head-up display with additional M-specific display presentations, and a high-resolution 10.25-inch control display.

BMW Personal CoPilot system

The four-door sports car features several driver assist items under the BMW Personal CoPilot system. The kit includes Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Plus that offers lane change assistant, lane keeping assistant with side collision protection, a reversing assistant, crossing-traffic warning, and more.

Wheels

The sports car rides on double-spoke style 810 M Bicolour 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with mixed rubbers.

Convenience features

The sports car is loaded with several convenient bits like an automatic tailgate, and soft-close function for doors and Digital Key.

Colour options

The M8 Gran Coupe is offered in seven exterior hues, namely, Barcelona Blue, Alpine White, Donington Grey, Brands Hatch Grey, Black Sapphire, Marina Bay Blue, and Motegi Red.
