BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport: Detailed in 15 pictures
This year in May, BMW Malaysia introduced us to a new sportier version of the 7 Series Sedan, dubbed as the 740Le xDrive M Sport. The new model comes with an M Sport Aerodynamic Package and other exclusive M-specific detailings that underline the sporty character of the luxury sedan. It expanded the electrified CKD range of the sedan that also comes in the 740Le xDrive Design Pure Excellence trim.
The New BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport price in Malaysia starts at RM 591,503 (on the road, with SST exemption, without insurance). One can also grab the M Sport kit as an “add-on package” by paying RM 25,000.
Let’s take a detailed look at the BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport and what it offers in the gallery below:
Exterior
The design of the sporty 7 Series sedan can blow anyone’s mind. It has a distinctive front fascia featuring larger air intakes paired with C-shaped brackets. On the front apron, we can see a large M-specific kidney grille that gives the sedan a strong road presence. There are also dynamically designed Air Blades on the lower air intakes for aerodynamics.
On the edges of the grille lie BMW Laser Lights paired with High Beam Assistant, which illuminate a larger range for better visibility and safety.
The M Sport Aerodynamic Package also adds more aggressive-looking bumpers and side skirts trimmed in the High Gloss Shadow Line to the mix. A new striking rocker panel is also there to elevate the sedan’s sporty stance.
Another significant exterior highlight of the BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport is a pair of 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in Double-Spoke Style 647 M Bicolour with mixed tyres and run-flat tyres. These are paired with the M Sport brakes and blue-painted brake calipers with an M badge.
At the rear, there are M-specific exhaust tailpipes, and two-part LED rear lights, which are connected by a narrow light strip emphasizing the vehicle's width.
The 7 Series M Sport also boasts a Sky Lounge panorama glass roof. It can be operated by a push-button or the car key.
Interior
Inside the luxury sedan, the elegant design starts right away with the ‘Fineline’ Fine Wood trim finished in Black with High Gloss Metal Effect. This is complemented by the BMW Individual Alcantara Anthracite headliner. Further, exclusive Leather Nappa upholstery in Black or Cognac stitching accentuates the whole look.
Behind the wheel, drivers get an M-Sport steering wheel and electrically adjustable Comfort seats with memory function.
For navigation and infotainment, the sedan gets the BMW Live Cockpit Professional comprising a fully-digital 12.3-inch Instrument cluster and the BMW Navigation System Professional with a 10.25-inch Control Display. The Cockpit is also mated to the BMW Gesture Control and BMW Head-Up Display.
As for rear passengers, the car has a Rear-seat Entertainment Professional with two 10-inch touchscreens which ensure on-the-go enjoyment of the rear passengers.
Included in the interior highlights are ambient lighting, four-zone, automatic air-conditioning, roller sunblinds for the rear side windows, soft-close doors, Comfort Access functionality for the tailgate, wireless charging, and 16-Speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system.
The M-specific vehicle key and M designation door sill finishers are also a part of the sports kit.
In addition, the BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport also offers digital assistance to the drivers via Driving Assistant Professional, Parking Assistant Plus, and Connected Package Professional.
Engine
Powering the electrified BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport is a combination of a 3.0 litre turbocharged straight-six engine and an electric motor. The former delivers a maximum power output of 286 PS from 5000 to 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 450 Nm from 1,500 to 3,500 rpm whereas the latter is good for making 113 PS and 265 Nm. Together, the system generates 394 PS and 600 Nm.
The power is transferred to the wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.
On the performance front, the car can run from zero to 100 kmph in 5.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of 250 kmph. The combined fuel consumption is rated at 2.8 litres per 100 km, while carbon emission is measured at a combined 65 grams per km.
In the end, we conclude the BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport is a good choice for those looking for a luxurious and sporty sedan. What do you think? Do let us know in the comments.
