Batik air brings back private terminal transfers — Now in Leapmotor C10 EV

KUALA LUMPUR: Batik Air has reintroduced its private terminal transfer service at KLIA Terminal 1 for Business Class passengers, this time with a significant upgrade.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What vehicle is used for Batik Air’s new VIP terminal transfer service at KLIA?
The service uses the fully electric Leapmotor C10 SUV, offering premium comfort and spaciousness for Business Class passengers. How many Leapmotor C10 units are dedicated to this transfer service?
Five units are deployed exclusively for Batik Air’s VIP transfer between the Main and Satellite terminals at KLIA Terminal 1.The airline is now partnering with Leapmotor Malaysia, marking the brand’s first public collaboration with Stellantis Malaysia since its entry into the local market.

The new shuttle cars are none other than the Leapmotor C10, a fully electric D-segment SUV that recently made its Southeast Asian debut—starting with Malaysia.

While the car offers D-segment space and premium touches, it enters the market at a C-segment price point, making it an interesting fit for this high-touch airport service.
Originally a joint effort between Stellantis and Leapmotor, the C10 isn’t just here for show. It has a WLTP-rated range of 424 km on a single charge and has already won the French Design Award 2024 and the US MUSE Design Award 2024.

Inside, you’ll find 3D ergonomic seats wrapped in sustainable OEKO-Tex certified textiles, a flat rear floor, and a boot that can expand from 415 to 1,410 litres—roomy enough to fit the kind of luggage Business Class passengers are likely to travel with.
Comfort was clearly top of mind for this service. Passengers get reclining rear seats with improved back support and class-leading space to stretch out—something to appreciate when shuttling between Gate G1 at the Main Terminal Building and Gate C1 at the Satellite Building while the aerotrain remains offline.
Five units of the Leapmotor C10 are now dedicated to this VIP transfer programme, reducing wait times and adding a premium EV touch to the overall airport experience. It’s worth noting this service runs alongside the existing shuttle buses provided by Malaysia Airports (MAHB).

Stellantis ASEAN Managing Director Isaac Yeo said, “The Leapmotor C10 redefines premium travel, delivering unparalleled comfort and sophistication for discerning passengers.
As the world’s fourth-largest automaker and a leader in mobility solutions, Stellantis remains committed to innovation, sustainability, and engineering excellence.”
Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, CEO of Batik Air, added that the move fits into Batik Air’s broader goal of making premium travel feel more seamless. “This VIP Transfer Service isn’t just about moving between terminals—it’s about redefining the journey with innovation, care, and a touch of exclusivity,” he said.

So while KLIA’s aerotrain may still be on a break, Batik Air Business Class passengers now have another reason to look forward to flying—getting chauffeured in award-winning EVs with cabin space that rivals luxury lounges.
