Aston Martin Vantage and DBS Superleggera ‘007’ editions revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: The long-standing association of upmarket British marque Aston Martin and British spy saga James Bond stretches back more than 60 years. In the coming November, the 25th James Bond movie "No Time to Die" is set to hit theaters worldwide featuring four Aston Martin models. Among them are the iconic DB5, the Aston Martin V8, DBS Superleggera, and yet-to-be-launched Valhalla hypercar. To celebrate the movie's release, the automaker has launched 007 Editions of the Vantage and DBS Superleggera.
The 007 Edition models feature a bunch of unique treatments linked with the world's most famous spy. These treatments are developed at the company's Q Bespoke department with the Bond franchise nod. The DBS Superleggera 007 Edition matches the specification of the car set to appear in the movie.
The aggressively designed Vantage 007 Edition comes in Cumberland Grey body color and houses a chrome-finished retro-styled mesh grille, a yellow-coloured diffuser, ski-racks on the roof and sports' 007' badging on the rear. It pays homage to the classic V8 featured in the movie 'The Living Daylights.'
At the same time, DBS Superleggera 007 with Ceramic Grey body paint flaunts a larger mesh grille, carbon fibre body parts, blacked-out roof, rear Aeroblade II, 21-inch diamond-cut spoked wheels, a 007 fender badge and stainless steel silver 007 foil on the rear spoiler blade.
The Vantage special edition gets the power from a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo, V8 engine making 503 hp. While, the DBS Superleggera 007 version is powered by a 5.2-litre, twin-turbo, V12 mill that generates 715 hp and 900 Nm. For transmission, there is a 7-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Inside, both the Vantage and DBS Superleggera offer a luxurious all-black cabin with '007' badging, a multifunctional steering wheel, infotainment console, obsidian black leather trim, carbon fibre seatbacks, and much more.
Another film reference is the sun visors in the form of an embroidered radio station frequency: 96.60 (FM) that Russian police frequency Bond used in 'The Living Daylights.' But unfortunately, there are no rocket launchers, oil squirters, and spinning blades coming out of the wheels.
Globally, the production of Vantage 007 is limited to 100 units, while there will be only 25 units of DBS Superleggera 007 for sale. Both models are now available to order with first deliveries slated for the first quarter of 2021. For Vantage, you need to shell out GBP 161,000 (RM 878,148) and for Superleggera, the price tag reads GBP 279,025 (RM 1,521,897).
