Aston Martin Callum Vanquish 25 by R-Reforged unveiled
KUALA LUMPUR: The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish was the flagship model of the British automaker's lineup for a good part of the 2000s. Multiple versions of the model were produced, ranging from the Royal Excellence V12 Vanquish to the Vanquish S Refresh. The model is now trending in a brand new form, dubbed as Aston Martin Callum Vanquish 25 by R-Reforged.
The former design head at Jaguar, Ian Callum, is the man who originally penned the Vanquish. Last year, he came up with his revisitation concept and got Aston Martin's tick of approval. And, the result is the Callum 25 Vanquish, whose production version debuted recently. It is being produced by R-Reforged, a part of the AF Racing Group's R-Universe group of brands.
The car has been cosmetically altered and given a refresh for 2020, and the processes and materials involved have been updated. Almost 350 design, engineering, and material changes to the car are implemented after 20,000 miles of testing on UK roads, as well as on both the wet and dry tracks at Michelin's Ladoux proving ground.
Inside, Callum dressed the interior in fine leather by Bridge of Weir and also added dark chrome trim. As compared to the original car, the seating position is a bit lower. It comes standard with carbon-fiber trim, which can be replaced by walnut veneer. Luxury appointments include a removable pocket watch by Bremont and luggage that fits in the rear of the cabin by Mulberry.
Under the skin, the 5.9-litre engine houses "a new sculpted carbon airbox, valley brace, and new engine cover," It delivers an additional 45 KW on top of the 336 kW it made in 2001. Also, there is a new diffuser-integrated exhaust system that makes the Vanquish sing along with the airbox.
Ian Callum, Founder, Callum Designs, said, "The designers, engineers and craftspeople have poured all their energy into breathing new life into the car, pushing the boundaries of every detail: flawless surface finishes, tight shutlines and a crafted interior I believe you'll enjoy spending time in. I'm particularly impressed with how it drives."
The production of Aston Martin Callum Vanquish 25 is expected to begin in September, while the initial deliveries are set for Europe and Latin America.
