All-new sixth-gen Nissan Serena debuts in Singapore; Will Malaysia be next?
KUALA LUMPUR: The 2024 Singapore Motor Show has kicked off with a bang in the island state, previewing an array of new and revamped models. One such model is the all-new sixth-gen Nissan Serena which has made its ASEAN debut at the said event.

The new Nissan Serena is powered by an upgraded hybrid setup featuring a 98 hp/123 Nm 1.4-litre internal combustion engine and an electric motor.The Nissan Serena received a generation upgrade in the home ground in late 2022. In its latest form, the popular people hauler features a more sculpted bodywork with a new V-motion grille edged by full LED headlights.
Adding to the vehicle’s aggressive exterior design are pronounced bumpers, vertically positioned LED tail lights, large windows, and stylish rims. Nissan has kitted the sixth-gen model with a dual tailgate, offering convenient unloading in tight spaces.
The new Serena will be available in both 7- and 8-seater seating configurations in Singapore. In the 7-seater models, the seating arrangement is 2-2-3, with individual middle-row seats. However, with the 8-seater models, customers get a 2-3-3 configuration with the middle seat in the second row serving as an armrest when unused.
The overhauled cabin of the MPV is equipped with a new switch-type gear selector, the widest-in-class windshield, and water-repellent seat upholstery. Also part of the kit is a seven-inch infotainment unit, a digital instrument cluster, an electronic parking brake, dual-zone air-conditioning, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, six speakers, and an e-pedal step.
The Singapore-spec Nissan Serena is powered by an upgraded hybrid setup featuring a 98 hp/123 Nm 1.4-litre internal combustion engine and an electric motor, which produces a total system output of 163 hp and 315 Nm. According to the automaker, the new drivetrain offers more power and smoother acceleration with reduced engine noise.
As for safety, the new Serena comes packed with several airbags and the upgraded ProPILOT 2.0 suite.
Is Malaysia next in line to get the new Nissan Serena?
The Nissan Serena was spotted during testing near Genting Highlands last year. However, there has been no indication from Edaran Tan Chong Motor regarding its anticipated arrival on local shores. Nevertheless, given Malaysia's significance as one of the key markets for the MPV in Asia, it is likely to be launched in 2024.
