All-new Chery Tiggo 8 Pro comes with 10-year warranty

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, that's true. While in Malaysia and most ASEAN countries we are still stuck with two- or four-year warranty with a five-year package rear and more of a goodwill offering by a handful automakers, here is a car that offers 10-year warranty, the 2022 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.

Chery ‘s new offering, the Tiggo 8 Pro recently arrived in South Africa and has created an instant buzz in the market for all the right reasons. Thus, making it the first country in the African continent to receive the new Chery seven-seater. Prior to which, the Tiggo 8 Pro was only limited to large markets like the Middle East, South America, and Russia.

Let’s get to know the Chery’s new SUV in detail starting with the price and variant info.

The all-new Chery Tiggo 8 Pro SUV is offered in three variant options in the South African market with price starting from ZAR 496,900 (approx. RM 136k). As mentioned, the price includes a comprehensive 10-year/1,000,000 km engine warranty. Also, part of the kit is a five years of roadside assistance, a five-year/60,000 km free service maintenance programme, and a five-year/150,000 km warranty.

Chery South Africa Executive Deputy General Manager, Tony Liu on the new introduction said, “In planning for the South African introduction of the Tiggo 8 Pro, we used the analogy of first-class travel. Once in first class, your every need is taken care of. There are no hidden costs, no surprise bills, and luxury is a given.”

Coming to the Chery’s new SUV visual appeal, it showcases the brand’s next-gen design language, called ‘Movement Design’. It includes ‘galaxy-inspired three-dimensional grille, slim matrix-LED headlights with dual DRLs, and 18-inch two-tone black & chrome alloys.

Further, enhancing the car’s ‘first-class’ appearance is the satin chrome accents throughout the SUV’s exterior body.

On the inside, the car has a high-tech look and feel with all major controls operated via three separate screens - a 10.25-inch floating infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and an 8.0-inch climate control screen. The car gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

New Chery Tiggo 8 Pro standard feature list includes -

• An automatic dual-zone climate control system with a built-in N95-grade air purifying system
• Wireless charging pads
• Leather upholstery
• An eight-speaker Sony surround sound system

As for its mechanical details, powering the 2022 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro the award-winning 1.6-litre turbocharged mill churning out a maximum power of 197 hp along with a peak torque of 290 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

Last but not the least, the Chery’s latest SUV comes with a strong safety pack that includes advanced driver assistance features limited to the range-topping Executive variant and includes -
