Innovative eDrive propulsion concept
The BMW i7 offers the driving pleasure of the next generation with its innovative eDrive propulsion concept. The almost silent and emission-free drivetrain comprises two e-motors delivering a total output of 544 PS and a peak torque of 745 Nm. It is mated to a 101.7 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP range of up to 615 km (as mentioned on the BMW Malaysia website).
The above drivetrain setup lets the EV run from zero to 100 kmph in 4.7 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 240 kmph.
As for charging, an 11 kW AC charger with a Type 2 connection takes 9.5 hours for a full charge. If not charging at home, BMW Charging facility is there to help you anytime and anywhere. The 195 kW high-power charging point tops up the 10% to 80% battery in only 50 minutes.
Head-turning looks
The EV looks absolutely stunning from each and every angle. At the front, it features a glowing kidney grille and Crystal headlights, which are curated with the most exclusive crystal glass.
The side profile appears clean, refined, and modern thanks to the flush window design, which also contributes to aerodynamics and eliminates undesired noise. Towards the rear, we get narrow L-shaped tail lights and a chrome strip detailing the car’s breadth. What makes it different from the ICE-powered 7 Series are the blue accents that can be noticed on the front as well as rear.
Luxurious comfort
Everything inside the BMW i7 is tailored precisely according to the customers’ needs. It features high-quality, superbly handcrafted materials and carefully devised technologies. Every function is put in place where exactly it needs to be. There are executive lounge seats on the back so that you can lean, back, and relax.
Lots of screens
Taking the gadgetry quotient to the next level is lots of screens present inside the BMW i7. On the front, you get a wide curved widescreen display comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment unit.
As for the rear occupants, BMW equipped the EV with a huge 31.3-inch Theatre Screen offering an unusual entertainment experience that is on par with a cinema. Two more screens are integrated into the back doors to operate the infotainment unit, theatre screen, air-conditioning, and seats functions.
4D audio experience
The new BMW i7 comes packed with the premium Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System. It comprises 39 tweeters, mid-range speakers, subwoofers, and shakers to create a 4D audio experience.
My Modes and BMW IconicSounds
My Modes feature lets you enjoy the interplay of light, sound and climate as per your mood. However, with the BMW IconicSounds system, you can experience a driving sound composed by Hans Zimmer as per the drive mode you select.
Sky lounge panoramic glass roof
Another luxury bit, the i7 offers us is a Sky Lounge panoramic glass sunroof. In the daytime, it allows natural light to come into the cabin while at night, it creates an incomparable ambience with dynamic light effects.
Sustainable materials
While creating the i7 electric car, BMW uses various kinds of sustainable materials. For instance, the raw materials cobalt and lithium used in the battery pack come from responsible mining and recycled materials like the plastic thread Econyl for the floor panelling.
Advanced driver assists
In terms of safety, the Malaysian-spec i7 is expected to come packed with several advanced driver assistance systems. Included in the list are adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, autonomous emergency braking, lane centering assist, blind-spot monitoring and collision prevention, reverse AEB, rear cross traffic alert with auto brake, lane change assist, a door opening warning, and emergency lane assistant.
