All-new 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport debuts in Europe
KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport has recently made its world premiere at the Nürburgring track in front of several motorsport fans. Based on the facelifted GTI, the latest model looks quite promising with its sharper exterior design, enhanced interior, high-end sports suspension, and impressive performance.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds and, with the race package, reaches a top speed of 267 kmph.Speaking of the exterior first, the new hot hatchback benefits from a redesigned front end with refreshed LED Plus headlights and an illuminated Volkswagen logo. The automaker has also redesigned the LED tail light clusters and added a taller roof spoiler for maximum downforce. The aggressive front and rear bumpers also set the GTI Clubsport apart from the regular GTI.
The 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport runs on all-new 19-inch Queenstown alloy wheels, featuring a five-oval semi-circle design that resembles the classic Detroit wheels from the fifth-gen Golf GTI. Additionally, buyers can opt for the new 19-inch Warmenau forged wheels.
Inside, the upgraded hatchback features a newly developed multifunction leather sports steering wheel that coordinates various functions and systems well. Also, new is a 12.9-inch infotainment system powered by new software. With the top-of-the-range model, the automaker also offers the new IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration.
Under the bonnet, the new Golf GTI Clubsport retains the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine setup as before. It delivers a maximum power of 295 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. Compared to the standard GTI, it generates 34 hp more power thanks to improved engine control and increased boost pressure.
The setup also comprises a 7-speed DSG transmission sending power to the front wheels. It allows the hatchback to run from a standstill to 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 kmph. With the race package, the speed can be boosted up to 267 kmph. The said package also brings on board a beefier Akrapovič exhaust system.
Another stand-out feature of the new Golf GTI Clubsport is the Special driving profile. Designed for the Nürburgring track, this system adjusts the DCC adaptive chassis control and Vehicle Dynamics Manager and enables the vehicle to handle the elevations and contours of the track. The suspension setup comprises a MacPherson axle at the front and a four-link axle at the rear.
The introduction of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport marked the beginning of the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring track, where the automaker and motorsport fans celebrated the 50th anniversary of the iconic hatchback.
