All-new 2023 Perodua Axia launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Finally, after so many days of waiting, the all-new Axia has been launched. Coming a day after its Indonesian twin, the Toyota Agya, it would be interesting to see what different features it has on offer. While that is a different subject altogether, let us first celebrate the 2023 Axia launch and see what it brings to the table.

Perodua likes to refer to the new Axia as not a cheap but a cost-optimized car that sets new standards for entry-level cars.

The new Perodua Axia is offered in four trim options namely, G, X, SE, and AV, with prices starting from RM 38,600.

Axia AV	RM 49,500

Compared to the previous generation, the new Perodua hatch sees a RM 4k to RM 5k price hike.

Powering the new Axia is the same tried and tested 1.0-liter engine which feels brisk when pushed hard. The old 4-speed automatic transmission is now replaced by a new D-CVT unit which will offer a smooth and precise feel through gear changes.

The top variant now gets - auto high beam with LED lights, semi-leather seats, multi-functional steering, a 9-inch LCD touchscreen, six airbags, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and blind departure warning. Also, the car now offers a big enough boot to fit four cabin-size suitcases.

Overall the Perodua new hatchback is a value-for-money deal in its range with the car setting new benchmarks in the field of features, fuel efficiency, and safety.
