KUALA LUMPUR: One of the world's most luxurious people movers, the Lexus LM, has finally received a generation upgrade. The automaker introduced the all-new second-gen LM at the Auto Shanghai Show 2023 which kicked off today in China. Lexus has plans to roll out this ultimate luxurious MPV in over 60 countries across the world.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the key highlights of the new Lexus LM?

The new Lexus LM features an elegant exterior design, a relaxing, lounge-like interior (4-, 6- and 7-seater configurations) and enhanced levels of ride comfort and quietness.
  • What powertrain options are available with the new Lexus LM?

Lexus offers the new LM in two hybrid powertrains, including a 2.5-litre non-turbo petrol four-cylinder mill and a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder unit, both paired with electric motors.
  • "The inspiration for the development of the new Lexus LM was the increasingly diverse lifestyles of customers in the luxury segment. This is where the development concept was born: creating a mobile space where customers can be their true selves. Our goal was to provide an environment that would allow busy individuals to relax in mind and body, free from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives―a space to inspire positive thought and action,” said Takami Yokoo, Lexus International's new LM Chief Engineer.

The new Lexus LM comes with a new "AVS Suspension with Frequency-Sensitive Piston Valve", which is mated to an Adaptive Variable Suspension, offering excellent ride quality irrespective of speed.

The automaker also brought on board a "Rear Comfort" drive mode for the first time that focuses on rear-seat comfort. For providing enhanced levels of quietness in the cabin, the MPV houses several sound-absorbing, sound-insulating, and vibration-damping materials.

Based on the "Dignified Elegance" design concept, the new LM looks dynamic, elegant, and graceful with an evolved version of the Spindle Body grille. The MPV has also grown in size; it now measures 5,125 mm (+85 mm) in length, 1,890 mm (+40 mm) in width, 1,955 mm (+10 mm) in height, and carries a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
