The second-gen Hyundai Kona will be offered in four variants - combustion-powered pure ICE, hybrid, pure-electric, and an N Line. What’s new on the second-gen Hyundai Kona?
The second-gen Hyundai Kona is bigger and bolder than the predecessor and has a stylish exterior with full-width light bar. The electric variant exclusively features Pixelated Seamless Horizon Lamps. How does the second-gen Kona design differ from the predecessor, let’s know -
- Inspired by the Hyundai Grandeur and Staria, the new Kona exterior features a full-width light bar and a rectangular opening on the front
- The electric iteration benefits from pixel-like elements (called Pixelated Seamless Horizon Lamp) with styling cues borrowed from the brand’s Ioniq models while the aggressive N Line gets a trapezoidal element in that space
- All the trims look similar from the side profile with hybrid and gasoline models having body cladding on the fenders while the electric and N Line variants have that section in the body colour
- Unique to the EV variant is the pixel theme that is extended to the lower intake grille, 19-inch alloy rims, rear bumper as well as tail lights covering the full width of the hatchback
- The performance-oriented N Line is also equipped with silver side skirts, a rear spoiler, black mirror caps, dual exhaust outlets, and a black roof
- Dimensionally, the new Kona measures 4,355 in length, 1,825 mm in width, and has a 2,660 mm long wheelbase. Compared to the predecessor, it is 150 mm longer and 25 mm wider; the wheelbase has also grown by 60 mm
- Getting inside, here the all-new second-gen Hyundai Kona boasts a pair of 12.3-inch advanced displays sharing a single bezel. Under the displays lie controls for the HVAC system
- The centre console incorporates charge ports and drives mode controls and other vehicle functions with no gear lever. The latter has been replaced by a shift-by-wire stalk positioned behind the steering wheel
“Upscaled with KONA's unique character, the all-new KONA confidently expresses its bold and dynamic presence,” said SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center. “KONA has evolved in every respect to embrace an even wider range of diversity, to become a true lifestyle supporter."
