All-new 2022 Lexus ES250 facelift launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: First arrived at the 2021 Auto Shanghai, the facelifted Lexus ES has finally arrived in Malaysia. For the 2022 model year, the premium sedan gets several enhancements including revised looks, better comfort, and enhanced safety. Not to forget the new and spunky F Sport variant. Note, it is for the first time the ES model is offered in the F Sport model.

The new Lexus ES250 facelift is offered in three trim options - Premium, Luxury, and F Sport. They are priced at RM 295,663, RM 329,910, and RM 345,134, respectively. The prices exclude insurance, but income with 50 percent SST exemption (valid till the end of this year).

Regardless of the model all three Lexus ES250 facelift models are powered by the tried and tested naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine making a maximum power of 204 hp at 6,600 rpm along with a peak torque of 247 Nm at 5,500 rpm.
The power is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed 'Direct Shift' automatic gearbox. Together, the setup helps the sedan touch the 100 kmph mark in 9.1 seconds and can attain a top speed of 210 kmph.

On the outside the sedan features -

• Standard grille (Premium & Luxury)
• Massive grille with a mesh pattern of interlocking L's in dark metallic finish (F Sport)
• Bi-LED projector headlights with a new inner bezel design (Premium)
• Three-beam LED projector headlights (Luxury & F Sport)
• 18-inch alloys (Premium & Luxury)

There are a few elements exclusive to the new F Sport model like a rear spoiler, F Sport badges, darker rear light housing, 19-inch alloy wheels in Dark Premium Metallic.

The ES colour palette has exceeded from six to eight, with Sonic Chrome and Sonic Iridium coming as the new options. Exclusive to the F Sport variant is Heat Blue Contrast Layering and White Nova Glass Flake hues.

On the inside, the luxurious sedan comes equipped with a new 12.3-inch touchscreen display (8.0-inch for the Premium model), USB-C ports, and what Lexus calls a Nanoe-X ion generator for better cabin air quality. The F Sport trim obviously gets a few extras like a 3-spoke F Sport steering wheel, option of aluminium timing, 'Flare Red' upholstery, and the signature movable dial.

As for the Lexus ES250, the facelift safety kit includes the Lexus Safety System+ package as standard. It includes several driving assistance aids like dynamic radar cruise control, pre-collision system, adaptive high beam, lane keeping assist, among others.
