5-door Suzuki Jimny bookings open in Malaysia; launch expected soon

KUALA LUMPUR: Globally revealed early last year, the much-awaited 5-door Suzuki Jimny is one step closer to Malaysia. Naza Eastern Motors, the local distributor of Suzuki cars, has started accepting bookings for the longer Jimny, which is expected to hit the roads soon.

As the name implies, the 5-door Jimny has two additional doors, making it a more practical off-roader. The length stretches to 3,985 mm, which is 505 mm more than the 3-door model. The wheelbase is also longer by 340 mm, measuring 2,590 mm. 

The width and height remain unchanged at 1,645 mm and1,720 mm respectively. Furthermore, the ground clearance is maintained at 210 mm, ensuring optimal performance across various terrains.

With two additional doors, the Suzuki Jimmy maintains its boxy design and the identical five-slot grille, a flat clamshell bonnet, and round headlamps. It continues to ride on 15-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, it is most likely to borrow the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine from the 3-door SUV. The said engine kicks out a maximum power of 105 hp and a peak torque of 134 Nm. Transmission options may include - a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

In terms of features, the upcoming 5-door Jimny is expected to come with automatic LED headlamps, 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a four-speaker sound system, leather seats, cruise control, parking sensors, Hill hold assist, Hill descent control, six airbags, and electronic traction control system, and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system.
