2024 Volkswagen Golf revealed with illuminated logo, ChatGPT, and more updates

KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen has finally revealed the enhanced version of its bestselling model, the Golf, to mark its 50th anniversary. The 2024 Volkswagen Golf benefits from a sharper design, efficient drive systems, and several new technologies. Let’s know all the changes in detail - 

First things first, the new Golf features a striking illuminated Volkswagen logo on the front, a new front bumper, and newly designed LED headlights. The IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights now incorporate an advanced high-performance main beam that extends up to a distance of 500 meters. On the rear, we can see newly designed tail lights with the IQ.LIGHT 3D LED clusters.

The interior of the new Volkswagen Golf is significantly more hi-tech, thanks to its next-generation infotainment system. It features a fast processor, intuitive operation, an intelligent IDA voice assistant, and ChatGPT integration.

The IDA voice assistant allows for natural language control of various functions, including air conditioning, telephone, navigation, and accessing online information. However, the Chat GPT, an AI-based chatbot, showcased at CES in Las Vegas, enables seamless interaction with an expanding database of artificial intelligence while on the go. 

Also new on the 2024 Volkswagen Golf is a new multi-function steering wheel, an enhanced Park Assist Plus function, and an Area View system (or 360-degree all-round view).

Coming to the powertrain range, Volkswagen will offer the upgraded Golf in nine powertrain options, including a new plug-in hybrid unit offering more power and an electric range of about 100 km, and is equipped with a DC quick-charging function. The Golf GTI also gains a significant boost in power when compared to its predecessor.

Upon revealing the new Golf, Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, “The Golf has been at the heart of the Volkswagen brand for half a century now, offering affordable mobility for all at the highest technical level. This is precisely what we are now building on with the new evolutionary stage – with even higher efficiency, comfort, and quality, and a new operating concept. The Golf does not get any better than this.”

The 2024 Volkswagen Golf will be available for order in Europe later this year.
