The Range Rover Electric will make its global debut in 2024.Land Rover has released an official teaser video of the Range Rover Electric and has also opened the waiting list for those eager to be among the first to pre-order the upcoming EV. It is expected to hit the roads sometime next year.
" Since going on sale in 2021 the latest generation Range Rover has set a new benchmark for desirability. Across the globe, we’re seeing the highest levels of client demand in our 53-year history. Because of this unprecedented success story, we’re now opening the official waiting list for the opportunity to be among the first to place a pre-order for the most anticipated Range Rover of recent times. Marking a new era for the Range Rover brand: the original luxury SUV is now available as an all-electric model." commented Geraldine Ingham, MD, Range Rover, Land Rover.
The Range Rover Electric underpins the flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) and has an 800-volt electric architecture. It is designed to offer performance on par with the flagship Range Rover V8 and the all-terrain capabilities developed in-house by Land Rover experts, which is a hallmark since the Range Rover's born in 1970. The water-wading capability of the electric SUV is rated at 850 mm, which makes it the safest EV in the segment.
Speaking about the design, the Range Rover EV looks almost identical to the gas-powered model with some exclusive bits like a distinctive front grille, a charging port in place of the fuel filler, and ‘EV’ badging.
“The magic ingredients that underpin the success of Range Rover remain unchanged: timeless, reductionist design, a serene cabin, and go-anywhere capability – but now offered with zero tailpipe emissions," said Thomas Muller, Executive Director, Product Engineering, JLR.
The automaker confirmed that the EV will be designed, engineered, and built in Solihull, UK alongside existing mild and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The batteries and EDUs will be built and assembled at the company’s new Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, UK.
