KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai introduced the Creta in Malaysia last year, which is now up for a facelift in the global market. The automaker has started teasing the all-new Creta facelift, scheduled to make its debut on January 16 in India.

    The set of official teasers unveils the SUV’s completely revamped exterior and interior. The upgraded front fascia features a redesigned bigger grille, a new split quad-beam headlight setup, an elongated LED daytime running light strip, and a chunkier bumper. At the rear, it gains a freshly designed tailgate with connected LED tail lights and a new bumper.

    Inside, the upcoming 2024 Hyundai Creta facelift appears more premium than its predecessor thanks to its revamped dashboard layout and the new integrated 10.25-inch dual digital displays for the instrument panel and infotainment system. 

    The new Creta will also come equipped with a dual-zone automatic air-conditioning system, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems.

    As for the mechanical setup, Hyundai will offer three choices in the Indian market, including 

    • 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, generating a maximum power of 115 PS and a peak torque of 144 Nm
    • 1.5-litre CRDi diesel tuned to deliver 116 PS and 250 Nm 
    • 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit good for making 160 PS and 253 Nm 

    Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, CVT, and a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic transmission).

    The new Hyundai Creta will be offered in seven variants in India viz. E, EX, S, S (O), SX, SX Tech, and SX (O). Prices could begin from Rs 11 lakh (approximately equal to RM 61,162).

    Closer to home, the pre-facelift version of the SUV is offered in a sole 1.5 Plus variant, priced at RM 149,888 (on the road without insurance). It comes equipped with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 115 hp and 144 Nm. The Creta locks horns with the Proton X50, Honda HR-V, and Toyota Corolla Cross in the local market.
