2023 Volvo XC40 facelift in Malaysia; here’s what new

Volvo Cars Malaysia has introduced the all-new 2023 XC40 facelift. And today we’ll be discussing the compact SUV in detail.

So, without further ado let’s what all is on offer -

Variants & Price

In Malaysia, the XC40 is available in two variant options - B5 mild-hybrid and T5 Recharge plug-in hybrid. Both the models are offered in a single Ultimate trim level that costs RM 268,888 (same for both variants).

Engine

Powering the 2023 Volvo XC40 B5 Ultimate is a 1969 cc turbocharged inline-four-cylinder petrol mill generating a maximum power of 263 hp at 5,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 390 m from 1,800 to 4,800 rpm. The drive is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed Geartronic automatic gearbox.

The Volvo XC40 T5 Recharge Ultimate plug-in-hybrid, on the other hand, gets a 1,477 cc three-cylinder turbo petrol engine pumping a maximum power of 262 hp at 5,800 rpm and a peak torque of 425 Nm from 1,500 to 3,000 rpm. The drive here is sent to the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Performance

The 2023 Volvo XC40 B5 Ultimate trim is known to complete the century sprint in just 7.6 seconds. The T5 Recharge variant takes 7.2 seconds to reach the 100 kmph mark.

Features

Both B5 & T5 Ultimate benefit from a number of convenience & comforting features like adaptive cruise control, plot assists - driver assist system, 360-degree surround camera, power adjustable driver seat, power-adjustable front passenger seat with memory function, 4-way power adjustable lumbar support, 2-zone electronic climate control, clean zone interior air quality system with PM2.5 sensor. The car also gets an android infotainment system with a 9-inch portrait integrated color touchscreen, a Harman Kardon premium sound audio system with 14 speakers, Bluetooth hands-free system with audio streaming. The model rides on 19-inch Y-spoke matt graphite diamond-cut alloy wheels wrapped in 235/50R19 tires.

The car’s connectivity needs are taken care of by Google Assistant, Google Maps, Volvo Car App remote functions, and data for 4 years.

Safety

The compact SUV packs several active and passive safety features including - collision avoidance & mitigation with intersection support for pedestrians, cyclist & large animal detection, front & rear collision warning & mitigation support, run-off road mitigation with road edge detection, blind spot information system, cross traffic alert with auto brake, seat belt detection with graphical indicator, ready to drive notification, emergency stop assist. Also, part of the kit is run-off protection, dual-stage driver & front passenger airbags, driver’s side airbag, side impact protection systems, full-length inflatable curtains, and more.

Colour

The 2023 Volvo XC40 is offered in five tones including Fjord Blue, Crystal White, Black Stone, Silver Dawn, and Thunder Grey. The cabin, on the other hand, is beautified via suede textile and Microtech upholstery in a Charcoal tone.

Over and above this, the T5 Ultimate model gets Lane Keeping Assist.
