2023 Toyota Yaris receives an update in Malaysia; price increases
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's best-selling non-national B-segment hatchback, the Toyota Yaris, has recently received a significant update. The car benefits from exterior styling tweaks, a fresh interior ambience, and new technology features that ensure it continues to lead the pack in the highly competitive market.

UMW Toyota offers the new Yaris in two variants - 1.5E and 1.5G, priced at RM 88,000 and RM 91,600, respectively. Included in the price is a full 5-year unlimited mileage warranty.
With a tagline of "Dare To Live: Amp Up Your Vibe", the new Yaris targets younger male and female Gen-Z audiences and complements their modern, forward-thinking sense of style. It comes with sporty new front and rear skirting and a new two-tone paint finish paired with a black roof.
The car is being offered in 5 colour combinations with Red Mica Metallic and Platinum White Pearl colours available in single or two-tone options, however, the Silver Metallic finish comes in single-tone only.
Inside, the customers get a bigger infotainment display measuring 9 inches, which replaced the older 7.0-inch unit. The new display also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as standard. Among the other updates are -

- New design for fabric seats
- USB ports updated to the current Type-C format
- A new sporty Optitron instrument gauge metre with red and white graphics
- Front driving video recorder as standard
- A soft leather steering wheel with paddle shifters (1.5G only)
- A pre-installed RFID tag and parking aid sensors (1.5G only)
As before, both variants of the hatchback are powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder DOHC Dual VVT-i engine generating a maximum power of 107 PS and a peak torque of 140 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic transmission.
The safety pack also remains unchanged with both variants loaded with a host of safety features, including 7 SRS airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Toyota Safety Sense Pre-collision System and Lane Departure Alert, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, 3D panoramic view monitor and more.
