2023 Proton X70 gets a new variant, the Premium X

KUALA LUMPUR: Proton has expanded the X70 lineup in Malaysia with the addition of a new variant called the 1.5 TGDi Premium X 2WD. The new trim slots between the 1.5 TGDi Premium 2WD and 1.8 TGDi Premium 2WD. It is priced at RM 126,800 (on the road, without insurance).

The exclusive highlights of the 2023 Proton X70 1.5 TGDi Premium X are -

• The model comes with a powered sunroof, a feature that was previously exclusive to the top-spec 1.8 TGDi Premium trim only
• It also gets a new Quartz Black colour tone, a shade that was reserved for government entities earlier

Apart from the above-mentioned bits, the equipment kit of the new Proton X70 Premium X remains the same as the Premium trim. Included in the list are - LED projector headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch infotainment unit with voice command premium functions, nine speakers, Nappa leather upholstery, auto dual-zone air conditioning system, ventilated front seats, six airbags. autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, parking sensors, blind-spot monitor, and intelligent high beam.

On the mechanical front also, it mimics the 1.5 TGDi Premium trim as it houses the same 1.5-litre turbocharged and direct-injected petrol mill that is capable of generating a maximum power of 177 PS and a peak torque of 255 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
