2023 Mercedes-AMG SL43 debuts in Malaysia, est. pricing announced

KUALA LUMPUR: During the launch event of the new A-Class sedan held yesterday, Mercedes-Benz also showcased the seventh-generation Mercedes-AMG SL43 in Malaysia. The latest version of the iconic roadster is more premium, sportier, and of course, more attractive than ever before. 

Estimatedly priced at RM 1 million, the new Mercedes-AMG SL43 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces a maximum power of 381 PS and a peak torque of 480 Nm. It is paired with a belt-driven starter generator offering a short-term boost of 14 PS.

The engine also features an electric exhaust gas turbocharger technology borrowed from ‘Formula 1’, which addresses the trade-off between a large supercharger, which offers high peak power but slower response, and a smaller supercharger, which provides a faster response but comparatively lower peak power. According to the automaker, the SL 43 is the world's first series-produced vehicle that uses such technology.

The power is sent to the wheels via an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G nine-speed automatic gearbox enabling the 2023 Mercedes-AMG SL43 to hit the century sprint in 4.9 seconds. The top speed is rated at 275 kmph.

As for smooth ride and handling, the roadster gets a Sports suspension setup comprising a multi-link front axle (with five links), which significantly improves the kinematics. The rear axle also sports a 5-link design.

The roadster comes in 12 paint finishes, including two exclusive SL shades viz Hyper Blue Metallic and Manufaktur Monza Grey Magno.
