2023 Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ arrives in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The high-performance version of the EQS, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+, has finally landed on Malaysian shores alongside the Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+. The AMG model of the pure electric sedan is offered in a sole variant here with a whopping price tag of RM 798,888 (on the road without insurance), making it RM 150,000 pricier than the non-AMG version.

Powering the Mercedes-AMG EQS is a dual-motor setup that kicks out a maximum power of 658 hp and a peak torque of 950 Nm. The output can be increased to 761 hp and 1,020 Nm with the help of the optional AMG Dynamic Plus Package. 

The motors are hooked with an all-wheel drive system, enabling the EV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds in standard setting and a bit faster at 3.4 seconds in AMG Dynamic Plus Package tuning. The former setting has a top speed of 220 kmph while the latter can help the EV to clock 250 kmph.

The EV comes equipped with a 108.4-kWh battery offering a WLTP-claimed range of up to 586 km. With the help of a standard 11 kW AC charger, the battery pack can be fully charged in 11 hours and 15 minutes. However, the 200 kW DC fast charging can juice it up 10 to 80% in just 31 minutes.

On the exterior, the Mercedes-AMG EQS differentiates itself from the standard model with an AMG-specific black panel grille with AMG badging, high-gloss black front splitter with chrome trim, high gloss black air curtains with chrome trims, AMG side sill panels, body-coloured rear apron with aerodynamically optimised diffuser, a rear spoiler and 21-inch AMG light-alloy wheels.

The interior is loaded with a bag full of advanced features, ensuring a modern and technologically-rich driving experience. These include -
