2023 Mazda CX-30 CKD launched in Malaysia, check full details

Bermaz Motor, the official distributor of Mazda cars in Malaysia, has just replaced the fully imported version of the CX-30 with the locally assembled model. Being the third locally assembled SUV from the brand, the CX-30 is produced at Mazda’s Inokom assembly plant in Kulim, Kedah. Let's take a good look at what the 2023 Mazda CX-30 CKD brings to the table, starting with its variants and prices.

2023 Mazda CX-30 CKD Variants & Prices

The knocked-down iteration of the Japanese SUV is offered in four variants with no more availability of all-wheel drive and diesel models. The variant-wise pricing is as follows -

Compared to the CBU version, the locally-assembled CX-30 is almost 13% cheaper across the range. The better-equipped Ignite Edition has now been replaced by the 'High+ Premium' variant along with the new 2.0G Standard taking the place of the previous entry-level '2.0G Core' trim. As mentioned above, the CX-30 is the brand’s third CKD model in Malaysia; the CX-5 and CX-8 are the first two.

The exterior styling of the SUV remains identical to the imported version with the same sleek yet rugged look. The signature Mazda ‘Wing’, sharp creases, and black claddings all around have also been maintained. Depending on the variant chosen, the equipment kit of the SUV includes -

Alongside the standard colour options, Mazda also offers premium hues for the CX-30 that come at an additional cost of RM 2,000.

The cabin of the Malaysia-made CX-30 also mimics the one imported from Japan, It is kitted with several creature comforts such as an 8.8-inch infotainment display unit, a 7-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster, dual-zone auto air conditioning system with rear vents, paddle shifters, leather seats, 10-way power adjustable driver seat with memory function, 6-way manually adjustable front passenger seat, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, reverse camera, engine start/stop button, tilt & telescopic steering adjustment, steering wheel multi-control switches, one-touch power window for all windows, and more.

2023 Mazda CX-30 CKD Engine and Performance

All four variants of the locally-assembled SUV are powered by the same 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G DOHC VVT naturally aspirated gasoline mill which churns out a maximum power output of 162 hp at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 213 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission paired with the front-wheel-drive. As stated above, Mazda has dropped the diesel-powered CX-30 mated to all-wheel-drive from the SUV’s lineup.

The Mazda CX-30 CKD clocks a top speed of 196 kmph with fuel efficiency rated at 6.4 litres per 100 km or 15.62 kmpl.
