The new BMW X1 will come with comprehensive exterior and interior changes along with updated powertrain options.BMW Charrier Cholet released a teaser image of the next-gen SUV on its social media handle, which hints at the soon reveal of the upcoming compact crossover. Let’s decode the teaser and look for the expected changes we might see on the upcoming BMW X1.
The very first thing revealed by the BMW X1 teaser is the updated headlights. The new units look relatively larger and sport more edges suggesting that they may get some additional detailing. Also, unlike the headlight, the tail lights of the upcoming X1 look similar to the current model, but their size appears to have increased.
The 2023 BMW X1 is also expected to get a chiselled body with striking cuts and creases. It may also feature the controversial large kidney grille seen on the latest BMW models. As for the interior, it may borrow the cues from the 2 Series Active Tourer.
Besides comprehensive exterior and interior changes, the new X1 is also likely to run on the updated powertrains. The options include -
- A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 306 horsepower
- A plug-in-hybrid mill
- A pure-electric powertrain
The version equipped with the electric drivetrain will go with the name iX1. The automaker revealed a teaser for the same last month during its annual conference. The design highlights showed through a single teaser shot were a closed-off grille with blue accents, a bold lower apron, and iX3-like headlights.
BMW confirmed the EV would make its debut shortly after the next-gen X1 global premiere scheduled for this year. It will underpin the brand’s FAAR (Frontantriebsarchitektur) platform and offer a driving range between 413-438 km (WLTP standards) on a single charge. In addition, it will come with the latest eDrive technology.
