2022 Volvo XC60 Recharge T8: What’s on offer

It was late last year that Volvo Car Malaysia launched the facelifted XC60, and now we hear that the premium SUV gets another share of upgrades. This time, however, the car limits itself to a comprehensive powertrain upgrade while maintaining the same specs. The change in the powertrain is also accompanied by a price hike.

Let’s check out what the 2022 model year has on offer -

Powertrain

The facelifted XC60 Recharge T8 is powered by a retuned 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. It now delivers more power at lower revs and offers a more refined drive. The unit now generates a maximum power of 317 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm.

Like before, sitting between the engine and the 8-speed Asini automatic gearbox is an integrated starter generator (ISG) which helps start the four-pot and deliver extra performance under acceleration.

The EV now gets a third layer of battery cells that increases its capacity from 11.6 kWh to 18.9 kWh. Thus giving a sizeable jump to its pure-electric range from 45 to 81 km. The bigger battery comes with a more powerful e-motor which pushes out an extra 145 PS and 309 Nm.

The combined power and torque figures rest at 462 PS and 709 Nm.

The new powertrain brings more power and range, but all that comes with a price hike.

Exterior

On the outside, the XC60 Recharge distinguishes itself from the standard model via design elements like an inscription grille with a chrome frame, integrated roof rail with a bright finish, illuminating door handles, capless refuelling system, and welcome light.

The SUV rides on 19-inch 5-multi spoke black diamond-cut alloy wheels wrapped in 235/55R19 tyres. It also comes with an indirect tyre pressure monitoring system, LED DRLs, a full-LED headlight with active high beam & active bending lights, an automatic headlight levelling system, rear fog lights, high position rear brake light, and emergency brake light.

Interior

Open the door, and one will be greeted by a comforting cabin with all the luxurious and comforting features. Part of the list is -
