2022 Toyota Camry: Key highlights

It was only yesterday that Toyota Malaysia launched the 8th-gen Camry SUV in the country. At the first glance, one can clearly see the D-segment sedan now features a new design language, hosts added features, and a new powertrain & gearbox combo.

Today, we’ll be touching on a few of the key and most impressive features of the Camry sedan. But before going forward we’ll first discuss a few of the sedan’s credentials. For instance, the Malaysia-spec Camry is offered in only one single variant, a full-spec 2.5V. Priced at RM 199,110 on-the-road without insurance, it is over RM 10,000 costlier than the ongoing model.

In case you are wondering, it does include a 50 percent SST rebate valid until June 30. Also, part of the kit is a 5-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.

Toyota is offering its latest sedan in five striking colour choices including - Platinum White Pearl Mica, Silver Metallic, Graphite Metallic, Burning Black, and Red Mica.

 

2022 Toyota Camry Highlights

Responsive handling

This one is an important one and is often missed by the customers. The Camry surely offers a more stable, responsive, and agile handling thanks to the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) with double-wishbone rear suspension. Therefore, the quality of the ride is A-okay.

Great under the hood setup

Powering the 2022 Camry sedan is the brand new 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder, in-line, DOHC with VVT-iE (intake) and VVT-i (exhaust). The mill makes a maximum power of 209 PS at 6,600 rpm along with a peak torque of 253 Nm at 5,000 rpm. In addition to higher output, it also offers higher combustion efficiency exuding absolute dominance on the road.

Paired with the engine is a direct shift 8-speed automatic transmission that offers impressive starting acceleration and mileage at high speeds.

Furthermore, the sequential shiftmatic and paddle shifters give the Camry driver a control similar to that of a manual car.

Impressive design language

The new Camry offers an incredible first impression with its breathtaking aesthetics. Helping the cars make a bold presence are features like -

Bi-beam LED headlamps with follow-me-home function and daytime running lights, automatically light up the path

Graphic welcome lights, though optional, sure add an advanced sense of flair whenever occupants enter or exit the car.

Rear LED combination lamps, sophistication is what this one adds to the sedan’s rear. When in its full glory, the full LED looks amazing.

Luxurious, feature loaded-cabin

No one can deny that. The new Camry’s cabin is luxurious, comfortable, and all those things. However, the features it offers sure put the driver and passengers in a position of prestige and power. The elegantly designed sedan with its organic patterns and straight lines offer the following features -

 

10-inch head-up display, it projects information in the driver’s line of sight for easier access of information

9-inch capacitive touchscreen with 9-speaker JBL audio system offers great sound quality thanks to Clari-Fi technology. It comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support

7-inch colour multi-information display with optitron meter, present vehicle info with impeccable clarity

Also, part of the Camry spec kit is power-adjustable steering with memory function, smart entry & push start system, power-reclining rear seat, leather seat with driver memory function, power rear sunshade, and tri-zone automatic climate control with rear vents.

Impeccable safety kit

The Camry sedan now gets the company’s latest Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite of driver assistance features. Part of which is the following great systems like the Pre-collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, and Lane Tracing Assist.

The driver can further relax about the safety of its loved ones via the following active and passive features like an automatic high beam, panoramic view monitor, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic auto brake, hill-start assist control, seven airbags, vehicle stability control with traction control, intelligent clearance sonar, and front digital recorder.
