2022 Toyota Camry: Features that make is LUXE

It was only a few days back that Toyota Malaysia launched the all-new 2022 Camry in the local market. As we have discussed in our previous articles the new D-segment sedan benefits from a lot of things in different domains, including design, performance, equipment, and safety. However, there are a few elements that make the new Carmy an outstanding, ultra-luxurious car.

 

In this article, we’ll be listing a few of such features that in a sense make the new Camry the look and feel of a Lexus car. So. let’s get started

Power-reclining seats & separate climate control zone for rear passengers

New Camry comes with power-reclining rear seats which are supremely comfortable with a recline angle of 8 degrees.

Also, part of the kit is a control panel, a control panel on the rear-centre armrest to have full control over the seats, air-conditioning, audio system, and power sunshade.

Power rear sunshade

No more harsh sun rays bothering you, thanks to Camry’s power rear sunshade that allows the rear passengers to enjoy convenient comfort from the heat

Head-up display

The Camry comes with a 10-inch colour head-up display. This one projects information in the driver’s line of sight. Thus making it super easy for the driver to access important information like the TSS warning alerts and shift positions

Power adjustable steering with memory function

So, the new Camry’s power-adjustable steering with memory function can register two preferred settings which the driver can select at the time of ignition. The steering column will automatically retract when the mill is turned down, thus allowing the driver to easily exit

Seats with driver memory function

As expected the seats are ultra-luxurious and wrapped in leather. However, making them a Lexus-like feel is the driver memory function that adjusts the seat to a preferred position at the push of a button

Graphic welcome light

Though available as an option, the Camry’s graphic welcome light add an advanced sense of flair every time the occupants enter and exit the vehicle

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5

The 2022 Camry comes with an upgraded suite of driver assistance features, courtesy to the latest Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. The kit includes Pre-collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beam, Nighttime Pedestrian & Daytime Cyclist Detection for Autonomous Emergency Braking.

Also, Toyota has now improved adaptive cruise control and can now speed up in anticipation of an overtaking manoeuvre when an indicator is switched on and slow down for corners.

Furthermore, the sedan’s safety spec includes an auto brake function for rear cross-traffic alert, an Intelligent Clearance Sonar, 7 airbags, rear ISOFIX child seat mounts, stability control, and a blind-spot monitor.

Impressive feature kit

The new Camry benefits from several impressive features all placed in to make the passenger’s and driver’s journey comfortable and plush. Part of the kit is - auto lights & wipers, keyless entry, push-button start, ten-way adjustable driver seat, eight-way adjustable front passenger seat, driver seat with memory and passenger seat with shoulder switches, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, 7-inch multi-info display, new freestanding OEM infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay Android Auto connectivity, a 360-degree camera system, a Qi wireless charger, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, and a vehicle telematic system.

Massive boot

Despite the reclinable rear seats, the new Toyota Camry’s boot space remains unaffected, at a generous 493-litres. The rear seat still can’t be folded, however, to help transport the longer items there is a ski hatch.

Smooth & efficient powertrain

The new powertrain offers better real-world fuel efficiency along with enhanced performance and responsiveness.

The D-segment sedan is powered by a new 2.5-litre Dynamic Force, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder engine featuring D-4S direct injection, electric variable valve timing, and a redesigned cylinder head for enhanced tumble flow. In the Camry sedan, the unit pumps out a maximum power of 209 PS at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 253 Nm at 5,000 rpm, that’s 25 PS and 18 PS more that the outgoing unit. The power is sent to the wheels via a new 8-speed auto transmission that offers impressive starting acceleration and fuel efficiency when cruising at high speeds.

Making the deal better is Camry’s drive mode select that includes a SPORT MODE for more responsive & exhilarating rides, ECO MODE for prioritising fuel efficiency, and NORMAL MODE for a perfect balance of fuel efficiency and responsiveness.

Impressive, huh? Well, in addition to all these amazing, plush features, the new Camry sedan stocks some pretty impressive regular ones.
