2022 Perodua Myvi: Is it worth the wait?

Perodua has been treating us with teasers of the 2022 Myvi for a while and now the automaker has even announced the car’s launch date, i.e., 18th November 2021. With no time left, we’d like the prospective car buyers to hold their horses for just a day before finalising a deal. Now, you must be wondering, is the 2022 Myvi worth the wait? Well, before giving you an exact answer we’d like to share the known details about the car. Thus, leaving you to judge for yourself before we give our word.

But before beginning with 2022 Perodua Myvi details, let’s discuss its launch.

2022 Perodua Myvi launch & pre-order

The new Myvi’s launch will take place virtually via Perodua’s social media handles including YouTube and Facebook. The official launch is set for 18th Nov 2021 at 9 pm.

It was only a few days back that Perodua opened new Myvi’s order books along with some initial specs. Making the local automotive market go crazy.

2022 Perodua Myvi variants

Perodua Malaysia has confirmed that the new Myvi will be offered in the country in five variant options namely - two 1.3 G trims, 1.5 X, 1.5 H, and 1.5 AV.

It is to be noted that all variants are automatic with the unpopular base 1.3L manual version getting discontinued.

2022 Perodua Myvi Exterior

Coming to new Myvi's exterior revisions, the hatch gets a new, fresh face with sharp LED headlamps, and vertical LED strip daytime running lights. The range-topping AV model features a gloss black lip with a silver centre section. The hatch rides on 15-inch two-tone rims that we see in the ongoing model as well.

At the rear are present front like vertical vents on the bumper, and wraparound tail lights.

2022 Perodua Myvi Interior

One of Perodua's latest teasers shows Myvi in a very red interior that is limited to the top AV variant. Part of the red kit is - red seats, a red-themed new instrument panel, and red AC vent surrounds. Visible in one of the teaser images is a new, full-height multi-info display.

2022 Perodua Myvi Engine

The new Myvi is expected to run on the tried and tested four-cylinder mills with Dual VVT-i. The engine list thus includes a 95 PS/ 121 Nm 1.3-litre mill and a 103 PS/ 137 Nm 1.5-litre unit.

It is being said that the ongoing 4-speed transmission system might get replaced by a CVT unit. However, there's no official confirmation on the same.

200 Perodua Myvi Safety

New Myvi’s latest teaser tells us that the hatchback will come equipped with new Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) feature. Part of the new Perodua Smart Drive Assist (PSDA) suite of safety and driver-assist systems that also include - Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Control, ASA 3.0, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

The ASA feature mentioned above stands for Advanced Safety Assist and new Myvi uplifts it to ASA 3.0 that includes features like Pre-collision Braking (AEB or PCB), Pre-collision Warning (PCW), Pedal Misoperation Control (PMC), and Front Departure Alert (FDA).

Wait, there's more. The PSDA kit also packs Parking Assists and Headlamp Assist. The former includes - rear cross-traffic alert, front/rear sensors, and reverse camera. The latter includes - Auto High Beam or Adaptive High Beam, depending on the variant.

2022 Perodua Myvi colour options

The new Myvi hatch will be offered in six striking colour hues - Ivory White, Lava Red, Glittering Silver, Granite Grey, Electric Blue (introduced in 2020), and the newly introduced Cranberry Red tone.

2022 Perodua Myvi price

Perodua Malaysia has officially revealed Myvi's price list that starts from RM 45,700 and goes up to RM 58,800. The said prices are on-the-road without insurance for the Peninsular Malaysia region. And yes, the prices included the now extended SST exemption.

Conclusion

With the above-stated price range, we must say the 2022 Myvi offers a fairly impressive package. However, we are waiting for the launch day to see which variant gets what feature.
